Has anyone here seen this yet? The general consensus from the critics seems to be "3 stars, not a patch on the first or second" and I'd agree with that.

I think it shows that it's got a new director and writing team, because it's just not as sharp or funny as the first two. Paddington himself actively got on my tits in places, the Browns were quite dreadful (not you Mrs Bird) and - flashbacks to his ancestors' deaths aside - I thought Antonio Banderas' character and performance were poor. Ditto his superfluous daughter. Olivia Colman's Mother Superior was strong though, and v much my highlight.

It reminded me of a non-essential but still reasonably enjoyable straight-to-VHS Disney sequel from the 90s. Return of Jafar or Simba's Pride and the like.
