I haven't watched a Grand National since I was a small child and my gran made me watch it. I just don't get horseracing at all and certainly not why people bet on it.
Over the years, I've come to associate it with the person in the office who is trying so hard to be popular that they organise a sweepstake and then get annoyed at the end when they can't sell the last 3-legged nags with names like Crusty Broomstick, Bendy Ben and Savile's Dungeon and ends up having a breakdown over the whole thing.
Our office sweepstaker did that a few years ago and started insisting that no-one be told what they had got until all the tickets were sold. Needless to say, this killed the whole thing pretty much instantly.
I won the Grand National sweepstake in my office about 5 years ago. Aside from that I don't care for it. My over-riding memory of it was the IRA stopping by making hoax threats.
Papa John's have ruined their plain garlic sticks by putting some disgusting yellow slop all over it which they promised was not cheese even though it smelt cheesy. Apparently it's their new garlic sauce. So there is literally one thing on the Papa John's menu that I will eat now, plain roasted chicken wings.
Next time it's pizza night I forsee a trip to Domino's instead.
