Sorry I didn't join y'all last night. Wasn't in the mood cometh the hour. Needed my bed.

This morning I am listening to some Nurse With Wound and wondering how milkshakes became such a significant weapon that the police tried to "ban" them near a Nigel Farage rally...
 
I have a stonking hangover today. The Italian sounding wine I knocked back with abandon last night was actually MOLDOVAN PLONK or more likely anti-freeze.
 
I'm just back from taking baby Dannii to the temple, in our culture you're not supposed to leave the house for 40 days, then you go temple first and then you're free as such.
 
I actually had my top on inside out and didn't realise till I got home. I've become that person :zombie:

The thing is, it's literally impossible over here to adhere to because life is so hectic. So I've been out and about but my only compromise was not to go to anyone's house. Today after temple I went to my parents and next week I'll go to another temple and then to the in laws

Not a lot, most is out of respect for our parents really. I suspect a lot of traditions will die with their generation.

If we kept our doors closed would it not entice more people to sign up to view content and therefore post? I think we may be missing a trick by having an open door policy, as people just read what is getting posted rather than interact.
 
I'm not sure it makes much difference. I think the general consensus before was that if we're closed, people just won't bother in the first place - they will turn away immediately rather than sign up.

And just because someone has signed up, I don't think it necessarily follows they will post more than when they are hiding, simply because they are somehow more invested or whatever.

But either way, I'm not against a change of approach.
 
I think there was talk of having a tiered approach so that some forums were public and readable without signing in - these were immediately accessible upon sign up...and then others were opened up after you hit a certain post count. This was only every implemented for the Community Forum.
 
It was just a thought. I suppose it could go either way. Did we get many/any new sign ups during Eurovision when we closed the doors? @Indie
 
I would say that closed doors in today's internet are more of a nuisance than anything else.

If I think about my own internet activity, most times I hit a closed door, I just go somewhere else. Or don't bother at all.
 
We seemed to have a lot of members online throughout Eurovision. I assume that was because a lot of guests had to log in. Surely they would be more likely to post if they had to log in rather than viewing as a guest. I do see what Slave is saying too though that it may scare away potential new posters.
 
We can survive closed door during Eurovision, when we have a captive audience. It's useful when there are security issues. However I don't see any benefit on closed door beyond the normal hidden forums.
 
I don’t see what harm it would do to give it a try and track the differences if it hasn’t already been done before.
 
I'd say it would be hard to track the difference and get anything close to a definitive result. There are so many variables.
 
Or, would bots have the same privileges if it was either an open/closed door policy as they tend to sign up to spam anyway?

We've tried before. We were closed for three months once (can't remember why). What's the incentive to sign up if you don't know what's there?

Yes, you are all right. I don’t think I would bother signing up to something I knew very little about.
