I've always loved cardigan but I'm an unabashed stan these days.

this video I think is one of her best ever. understated masterpiece. and the song is just layers and layers of excellence. some real 100% Better Cotton Initiative shit. now can I get a cardigan emoji?

I like it a lot, and loads more than “willow” but still not close to the best handful of tracks from the album.

It must have been difficult choosing a “lead” single for the project. It’s really an album’s album, hard to pinpoint singles.

I do think the last great american dynasty could've been a great lead single as well. or at a push, the 1. but nothing else...

This was the first time in DECADES where the lead single of a Taylor Swift album wasn't an ABOMINATION! Sorry but most of her albums' lead singles have been shit!
She's very hit and miss in that regard. I love "Mine", "Shake it Off", "Cardigan", but don't care for "Look What You Made Me Do", "WEEEEEEEEE are Never Ever Getting Back Together", "ME!" so I half take your point. "Willow", "Tim McGraw" are middling. "Love Story" is a classic but who needs to hear it these days.

1. Love Story
2. Cardigan
3. Shake It Off
4. Willow

5. Mine
6. Look What You Made Me Do
7. Tim McGraw
8. We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together
9. Me

The only one I would say is among my favorite Taylor songs is Love Story, and I only like the top 4. I don't think I would ever choose to listen to the bottom 5. Every album has at least one better song than the lead single, with the possible exception of Fearless.

OOOOH

1. Mine - severely underrated
2. Shake it Off
3. Cardigan
4. Love Story
5. Willow
6. The one with the really long title
7. Tim McGraw
8. ME!
9. Look What You Made Me Do

I liked Mine at the time, but it didn’t hit me like Speak Now, Sparks Fly, or Enchanted did and I rarely go back to it. For some reason, I don’t usually listen to that album, just pick a few songs

Speak Now is interesting because it’s her only album that doesn’t have any lasting hits in the public conscious from it. Not counting folklore and evermore, since they’re too new to say.

Willow, Mine, Love Story, Cardigan all great lead singles.

Shake it off, ME!, Look... and We Are Never...are just........not for me.

Tim McGraw, I don't know her unfortunately!

but I knew you'd linger like a tattoo kiss
I knew you'd haunt all of my what-ifs
the smell of smoke would hang around this long
cause new everything when I was young
I knew id curse you all this time
chasing shadows in the grocery lines
I knew you'd miss me once the thrill expired
and you'd be standin' in my front porch light
and I knew you'd come back to me
you'd come back to me
and you'd come back to me
and you'd come back

she's just so... enchanting.
