Well I was in a wine bar in Soho so we all went outside and said “oh it’s a bit dark” but couldn’t see anything because of buildings.
I agree with @Lucille that the PROMO was NON-EXISTENT until about 3 days ago!
Yay for being OLD ENOUGH to remember 1999. I was in Hastings with my mum and brother and we sat on a cliff top and laughed at the seagulls going mental.
Well it was incredible in Mallorca. Mainly because it was the total eclipse that some people seemed to be expecting to see in the UK for some reason…
We got a great spot without having to do the hiking I thought we might have to do, it went totally dark and chilly and there was a great eerie moment when the cicadas all stopped singing in unison.
The only thing I didn’t get to see was the corona of the sun during the moment itself because one measly cloud chose those exact two minutes to move in front of the sun. Sigh. So I’m already pondering going to Malaga next August for the COMPLETE complete experience.
Next one after that in Europe won’t be for about 30 years.
I’m sorely tempted by next year too - 90 seconds of totality in Zaragoza was amazing but I’m hooked and want even more. It’ll be much higher in the sky so should be even easier to view. If I can brave Marbella, it’ll give a good three minutes of totality.
