Woke up, thought it was Wednesday. No idea whats going on.
 
I basically had two sleeps last night - threw it in early because of this bastard cough, woke up about midnight, got up, faffed around quietly then had another sleep.

Yes it is, we've not paid, just going while it's free, but it doesn't look as good as I was expecting so I don't think we will stay long.

We're going to go on a walking Christmas lights tour.

It was a lot bigger than, but in my opinion not as good as, the one in Cardiff. That one had more heart, but London felt corporate and a way of extracting money from us. Which I'm sure Cardiff also was, but at least it was better at hiding it.

I was going to suggest that London at Christmas is a Winter Wonderland anyway, if you pick the right spots. Unless you particularly want the rides of Hyde Park, I think you'll enjoy the lights elsewhere more.
 
And actually I'm off to London on Thursday myself to see the Gilbert & George exhibition at the Hayward Gallery. I read somewhere that the lights on the South Bank are meant to be rather good, so I'll also go for a wander there.

Damn, we made a conscious effort to avoid our normal London go-to's last weekend, most notably Southbank. Oh well.

Winter Wonderland looked pretty in the evening from a distance (Marble Arch), but I have no desire to go.
 
After a solid 2 weeks of dancing, drinking, eating working and travelling I am so ready for a bit of humdrum normality. But I’ve just remembered I’m going out on Saturday 😬
 
@Rachey we went to Frameless another immersive experience, like the Titanic one you went to. We enjoyed it, but I did wonder what the building used to be to have five warehouse type rooms underground at the end of Oxford Street.
 
I had a horrible night of sleep, I normally sleep pretty well these days.

This long covid sponsored cold/ non-cold is draining, a bit migrainey, quite sore all over and super brain foggy. I'm amazed I survived cooking twice yesterday, I did multiple things wrong.

Yes there were stalls, but as I recall it was your usual Christmas market tat.

As me and Mr Ag discussed, once you've seen one you've seen them all. I await technology to take them to the next level. I'd like some really good historical simulations.
 
Our Christmas market is next week. It's pretty crap bordering on ok, but we always like to top up on cheap knitwear.
 
Is it an unpopular opinion of mine and Mandy's that we love Canary wharf? My brother's who both work there say it's soulless and dull, but we often stay here as it's a bit cheaper and I really like it!

I love all the sky rise buildings against the river.

I've not been there for years, possibly not this century. My cousin and her husband live there.

We stayed in Euston. A fairly hellish spot on a ringroad, but good lord, Euston is well linked.

I still find London mad. We passed a tent city, barely a minute away from lovely Marylebone and the extremely weird and out-of-reach Harley Street.

Oh we've not seen a tent city yet, but it does always shock me the amount of homeless people you see in London, just because I'm not at all used to it.

I also love how much walking you do in London without even realising, easy 8 miles a day.

Might look at Euston at some point if it's cheap enough.
 
There's plenty of homeless here, although I suspect they're better catered for here. Street drinkers are the main problem.
 
Well Winter wonderland is pretty shit. Took 30 mins to get in, and we only spent 50 mins inside.
 
Winter Wonderland is only good for the carousel bar and maybe the one with the fire pits. And even then paying £7 for a shit pint or a watery mulled wine get old fast.
 
How much is a ride these days? I last went 10 years ago and it was £8 for a 2 minute spin those days.

We saw some for £10.

I got churros for £5 which I thought was a bargain as every other stall was at least £8-10.

But they were horrible 😭
