Caustic and cold water are all you need! Add the caustic to the water as per the dilution instructions for drain blockages/cleaning (never the other way round!) then just pour it down the plughole and leave it for a bit.
That's not how I use it but I was trained in the use of caustic in an industrial environment so I know what not to do with it

Finally got my Masters dissertation mark back. Got myself a 70 (distinction) and a 68 overall (merit). Considering the circumstances (change of subject, strikes, lockdown) I am absolutely delighted!

It's really dangerous stuff if you don't respect it and I don't want to be responsible for injuries. The most important thing is never to mix it with anything else, especially not bleach.
I just tip it down the plughole, put the plug in, then pour boiling water into the bath/sink then lift up the plug so the boiling water hits the caustic in the bend but making sure to stand well back just in case. The roaring noise (from the extra-exothermic reaction) and the way the fizzy steam fires back of the plughole (that's why you have to stand well back) is just spectacular. I hear it roar all the way through the pipe under the bathroom floor to the soil stack pipe.
