So I was born 1989. I can only remember as far back around 95/96 and my dad had been working in Qatar and he came back after a long time away (I must admit he was always a grafter) and he came in and hugged me and it always sticks in my mind. It was a long time ago and life was so much simpler when I was 7

My earliest memory is being just under three years old and scared in bed, all because my wardrobe had said “MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL” in this terrifyingly theatrical booming vocal while I was asleep. Normally I would run to my mum but this time I ran to my dad and cosied up to his 1986 Burt Reynolds chest hair. That situational fusion of high camp gay panic and finding comfort in hairy men is what led me here today.

Off the top of my head, probably the time my sister brought the class hamster home from school and I accidentally let him out of his rolly ball and caused CHAOS.

We lived in Germany for three years in the early 90s as my dad was in the RAF. I remember going on a car ride with my dad and he was looking under the car before we set off with a large mirror and I asked him what he was doing and he said looking for bombs, I then cried and refused to get in despite there being none.

There never was, but there had been a spat of car bomb discoveries against RAF family cars.
