Apparently a large portion of the internet (2.4 million in less than 48 hours, breaking news on the BBC) is delighted that DAN AND PHIL have finally confirmed they are in a relationship after 16 years of internet fame, and don't get me wrong they seem like lovely boys but I'm a little disturbed because to my knowledge I have never, ever heard of them, even in passing.

I general I'm firmly of the opinion that whoever is currently big on the influencer circuit is NONE OF MY BUSINESS, but every so often you get hit with a slightly sobering moment, and this does feel a little bit like an inception/Dawn from Buffy the Vampire Slayer scenario* given they've apparently been gay internet megastars for over half my adult life.

They were an early YouTube sensation and had a show on Radio 1 for a bit. They're very well known for what they are but i don't think they have the kind of fame that TRANSCENDS the one generation that grew up watching YouTubers.

I knew who they were and always thought they were gay anyway, so this is a complete NON STORY

I've been aware of them for some time, but never get why they're successful. Just quite creepy and unappealing. Their styling has been quite "how do you do, fellow kids?" for some time now too.

But fair play to them for doing this on their own terms and keeping the fans guessing, while seemingly being very obviously together.
