Wasn't sure where to put this - I know I've seen them discussed on here before somewhere, but I presume it has been lost at some point and they deserve a thread.

ANYWAY, recently picked up their Collection CD cheap off CDON and it is nearly all FANTASTIC. I know there are some hits missing (some of them are thoughtfully given about ten seconds in a megamix at the end), but it is definitely well worth picking up.

I'm not sure what random dancing girl is doing at the back. :D

I've stuck Robert & Marie in the gmail. It isn't exactly typical, but I've become quite obsessed with it - even a bit ST ET sounding too.

Would anyone be able to supply Okey, Okey please? It isn't on the album.

Yes I got it off CdOn too...though I've only had a QUICK bash, I'm MORE than impressed...and it's DIRT CHEAP

I was really surprised just how good it was. I expected a few great tracks and some filler, but lots of GOOD STUFF. :disco:

Lili & Susie are fabulous! I think I have 'Okey! Okey!' somewhere.

The random girl in the background is Ankie Bagger. She had a couple of hit singles of her own. Written and produced by the same people behind Lili & Susie's records.

I just saw the tracklisting at CDon. Their best song isn't even on that CD. I'll check if I got it somewhere.

I LOVE this album. Boyfriend is right up there with Robert & Marie.

Why should we care for the powers that be?
Always gonna do anything to be free.
:disco:

1. Robert & Marie
2. Boyfriend
3. Bara Du Och Jag
4. Oh Mama
5. Something In Your Eyes
6. Enkel Resa
7. Om Du Kan
8. Ride On My Love
9. Where Eagles Fly
10. All You Can Say Is Goodbye

Where are they now? Is there any chance of a MF comeback? That would be quite amazing.

Lili & Sussie

I saw these old dears at Stockholm Pride this year and they were AMAZING. I'd never heard of them before, but I was assured by some Swedish friends I was there with that they were very famous in their day.

I've become totally OBSESSED with their biggest hit 'Oh Mama', which was a no. 1 in Sweden in 1987.

I think this might appeal to anyone who likes Stacey Q's Two Of Hearts, or any other fabulous 80s pop for that matter.

Oh, and I downloaded their Greatest Hits the other day and it sounds amazing.

I'm glad you have discovered them Robotboy. They're fantastic!

They were my favourites when I was a (gay) teenager. They had their breakthrough back in 1987. And they were actually offered to sing "Dansa in neon" in Melodifestivalen that year, but they turned it down. And we all know who said yes instead. :disco:

Besides "Oh Mama", essential tracks imo:

"We Were Only Dancing"

"Okey! Okey!"

"Enkel resa"

"Robert & Marie"

"Bara du och jag"

Thanks for the recommendations Lars! I LOVE Robert & Marie. Was just listening to that one earlier.

Robert & Marie is a work of ART.

They were quite the dancers back in the day weren't they? Some kind of MF comeback would be amusing.

I've been reading up about them and it was rumoured they were making a comeback at MF in 2008 so I wouldn't be too surprised if they turned up next year.

One of them was pretty fat at Schlager Pride though.

OMG! I thought she was just pregnant. :shy:

Btw, it would be so great to see them in MF. The haven't had a big it since the early 90s. :(

They have been spokespersons for animal rights and stuff like that. And they even had their own TV show, where they rescued animals in the Stockholm archipelago. It was absolutely ridiculous. :D

She wasn't wearing any pants at Schlager Pride either! We've got a video to prove it. :(

I would LOVE to see that TV show. I did a boat tour of the archipelago this summer and it's stunning. I want to live there and get rescued by Lili & Sussie.

The archipelago is amazing. Sometimes I really feel blessed living in a city like this. :)

Let me check which island they live on and I'll get back to you. I'm sure we can arrange som kind of boat trip out there. :D

I really am going to live in Stockholm at some point. Land on the archipelago is super expensive though isn't it?

Yes, let's take a boat trip to Lili & Sussie's island and have a fika with them!

Over the last week I've become RATHER OBSESSED with "Oh Mama"

Just so you know

I've always agreed but it's gone to WHOLE OTHER LEVELS of FABULOUSness this week for some unknown reason

It's very addictive

I'm afraid I don't. But I can check with some of my mates.

Thanks for that. We Were Only Dancing was well worth waiting for.

I wonder if they will do a more complete hits collection with the MF comeback?

I am ALL OVER Ankie Bagger's 'Where Were You Last Night' at the moment.

Lars, do you have an MP3 of it? Or anyone for that matter?

Mike portnoy posses me off. My favorite drummers (not neccesarily gods) are Matt Cameron, Brain from primus, John Bonham, and Stewart copeland.

Thanks for that. We'll let Lili, Sussie and Ankie know your thoughts.

Oh and the tracklisting isn't complete at all...it misses off QUITE A FEW

Oh SORRY I only saw the picture and thought you were referring to "Collection"

MY BAD

YES! An essential, without even seeing the tracklisting.

OH and I got Ankie Bagger's album on XTorrent. It's really good! In a shit way, obviously.

I do have a mp3 of "Where Were You Last Night", but I guess you don't need it now?

Does that album have "Don't You Know, Don't You Know" on it? It's my favourite. :disco:
