I actually only know You Think You're A Man, Walk Like A Man and Native Love but they're all trash-tastic.

Was this not voted the campest TV moment EVER on some Channel 4 countdown once? :D

It really annoys me that he doesn't have any proper compilations. Cherry Pop really need to get on the case.

Absolutely amazing. I love the 2 big hits and that Dead-or-Alive-esque Hi-NRG backing.

All the compilations on Itunes are missing several tracks and padded out with remixes. I need to know the ESSENTIALS.

I do have an album though I don't know if it's a compilation or anything. I can't remember what it's called and it doesn't have the two big hits on it. NOT HELPFUL, I KNOW :basil:
 
There's Essential Divine on Itunes, but it doesn't have Native Love on it and all the tracks are extended mixes.
 
I'm So Beautiful is his best song, it's gigantic. It's such a shame he passed away, but being a fatty kind of gave him the career he had.

And we DO have a thread, but I can't be arsed to find it on an iPhone.

Anyway, Divine could do with a Cherry Popping- it's constantly getting requested on their Facebook

I'd imagine with both BOBBY O and STOCK AITKEN WATERMAN involved the LICENSING ISSUES are probably TERMINAL, which is why all the compilations are RUBBISH

I'm still convinced this is why there is no 2 Unlimited on itunes.
 
I thought Stock Aitken Waterman were quite good about licencing their stuff? They've put EVERYTHING on Itunes, plus the vast majority of Cherry Pop re-issues are old SAW albums.
 
Oh certainly the stuff on their own label. licensed to majors and things they had a hand in like SUPREME RECORDS

But who knows about the earlier stuff? Whither BARRY EVANGELI of PROTO RECORDS fame?
 
He was MASSIVE (shut your traps) in Holland so I've got The Story So Far which has pretty much got the BIG HITS on it. I probably bought it around the same time as my Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Bronski Beat albums :D

The CD version from a few years back left off the SAW tracks for some unfathomable, undoubtedly legally motivated, reason - which does rather suggest his back catalogue is mired in some kind of RIGHTS HELL, along with the Blond Ambition tour and the Kate Bush video anthology.

SAW Gold had the single edit and a remix of "You Think You're A Man" on it.

I (well my sister, but I nicked it) had Enjoy Yourself on a RED CASSETTE to the wonder and amazement of my gay-as-it-turned-out-to-be-surprisingly-enough LUNCH CHUMS at school.

For added comic value, it was my ALBUM of CHOIX on a family jaunt to GRAN CAN that year :D

I've got a memory of doing a CAMEL RIDE (of all things) through the Maspalomas dunes. LITTLE did I KNOW that I had the PERFECT SOUNDTRACK on my Walkman :disco:
 
There's clearly some bizarre association with GEOGRAPHY going on here as I bought the 12" of 'You Think You're A Man' while on an appalling Geography field trip to Yorkshire in 1984 and decided to GAYFULLY FRUG TO IT at the so-called parties in the evenings, while wondering why I was getting LOOKS

She was a great actress of course, but the music was not just kitsch to dismiss. Some of the Bobby O stuff was highly influential.

This one especially, an "I Feel Love" update that basically blueprinted Hi-NRG and beyond. Madonna's "I'm Addicted" has a nod to this, as does Roisin's "Cry Baby"

it's a total pastiche which reminds you of a thousand things - dead or alive, donna summer, cerrone, gossip, midnight boy... but it works for me.

It's the other way around. A lot of those artists and their producers were hugely influenced by Bobby O's production on those Divine records. (Although obviously there's a hefty dose of Moroder in this too).
 
And of course Pete Burns famously went to Stock Aitken Waterman for 'Youthquake' ET AL because he wanted it to sound like Divine
