The only acceptable track on the parent album. Properly loved it at the time, never play it anymore.

I really like it, but it was far too self-referential and up itself to be the lead single. She should've led with Do What U Want :disco:

THAT ALL SAID the Good Morning America perf was one of my favourite things she's ever done.

this is what i love about it the most - we all knew she was a megalomaniac and she had the guts to admit it. i get where you're coming from regarding it being lead single but it's such a statement that i'm not sure it would've worked later on in the campaign. also it could've done with a better video - this one screams niche diy artist.

i think the album and dwyw would've done better if that single "campaign" wasn't such a mess and if the album was more focused on the melodies and lyrics rather than the busy production.

10 for the video - the glittery purple sequences in particular are :disco: incarnate - but I've never had the slightest urge to hear the song in isolation, so FIVE

YES! Absolutely amazing.

She can be very frustrating but when she gets it right, she is amazing.

MILES better than the previous lead single Born this fucking Way which just got my BLOOD BOILING.

I gave the album a spin about a month ago, bar three tracks which everybody is familiar with it really is a great great album!

This album's single run would have been flawless if she really went with her gut and decided to releease Venus as a proper single instead of G.U.Y. but we all know what happened in the end with DWYW and the video and then G.U.Y. practically charting in nowhere. RIP ARTPOP.

The song keeps growing on me; I especially love the verses (her usually annoying way of singing works well her I think).
Hate the video though.

Two years is a long time for someone of Euphoria's age.

"Venus" is one of the funniest songs ever recorded. The SIGHT of her, in some old greying Y-Fronts on X Factor doing it, the pause before she sings the title - it was like a Little Britain parody of Lady Gaga.

"Applause" is just a piss poor attempt to recapture past glories, in much the same way "Judas" was - only worse.

Born This Way is the most overrated sack of shit I've ever heard. I hate it when gays jump on ANY old derivative shit that puts them on a massive gay-high. I'd rather listen to most of Artpop.

Her recent cover of I Want Your Love made me realise that Lady Gaga's way of singing is one of her biggest issues these days. It worked at first because it was so different, but now it places her at a remove from her material, because she always sounds horribly affected and theatrical. Compare this to Roar - yes she could sing absolute rings around Katy Perry, but it's obvious why the former was a much bigger hit, because it's such an inclusive, sing-a-longable pop song. There's no warmth to what Gaga does.

Overrated? Everybody's had the daggers out for BTW since day one. Underrated if anything.

Despite the fact that it was obviously a big hit, Born This Way must be one of the most commercially suicidal releases of the 21st century. Utter hubris and totally misjudged.

And christ, isn't the video just a complete and utter train wreck?

I don't think anyone's managed to do it quite like Beyonce. The gays love her and the straights even more. Gags could have had that.

I agree about the song but this I disagree with. The video was the only interesting thing about this whole project. I like the darkness and all the supposedly illuminati/NWO symbolism.

My God, did I really give this a seven? It was just featured on Drag Race and I having not heard it in ages I was actually stunned by how cheap and uninspired it sounded. I'd give it a 3 today.

Love it, it's like a pugnacious homage to Leila K and Nina Hagen, gorgeously too idiosyncratic for its own good. Not one for the hungry, huddled masses, that's true.

Great track. And it doesn't sound like anything else produced this decade.

It's the opposite for me, the older it's getting the more I'm loving it. I'd give it a 10 today.

I think it's a brilliant pop track. Nothing groundbreaking, but still super fun to listen and dance to. And I still think it should've won the race against "Roar"

You've mentioned that.

I think it's fairly turgid and uninspired. That Dorothy performance is great fun though.

A solid 6/10 for a Lady Gaga song. Average song but great live potential as seen in the GMA performance.

7/10. What an average, if inoffensive, track.

Roar, despite being rather basic, shits on this.
