I have barely gotten over the fact that the lesbian former prime minister of Iceland is an AIR HOSTESS.

Out of interest, I'm going to look up what became of the women originally featured in this thread...

Julia Gillard (Australia)

OUSTED after 3 years and retired from politics. Her successor lasted a mere 3 months before the right-wing Liberal party won the election, headed by her arch-nemesis Tony Abbot. :(

Portia Simpson Miller (Jamaica)

Jamaica's first Female PM and Loreen lookalike, also the first to not openly promote homophobia in a country seen as being one of the most homophobic in the world.

LOST in 2016 to the right wing populist Jamaica Labour Party. :(

Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir (Iceland)

RETIRED in 2012. Her party are currently in opposition, but Iceland is a very politically confusing country so I can't really tell from a quick scan of Wikipedia if that's a good or a bad thing. I'm sure they're ALL LOVELY.

I note South Korea has a lady now (Park Geun-Hye):

She's meant to be a BIT OF A CUNT.

JAILED for 25 years in 2018 for corruption and influence peddling. The centre-left Democratic party under Moon Jae-Inn (a man) are now running the show. :disco:

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia :disco:

SERVED out her term and weathered a few scandals in the process. Still active in politics and in 2016 she became the first Female chair of the Economic Community for West African States.

He’s not FEMALE but I’ve only just realised MAGID MAGID is no longer our mayor :(

How can we forget Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (Argentina), arch enemy of the UK and general freaky looking glamour dog:

SERVED her term and REBOUNDED as Vice President in 2017, a role she currently occupies. (She seems very corrupt and dodgy though)

Joyce Banda of Malawi tells Hillary that she needs to UP HER GAME in the FASHION STAKES if she ever wants to be President

DEFEATED in 2014 and fled the country after being charged with corruption. :(

There are currently 23 elected female leaders. Germany, Iceland, Norway, Bangladesh, Namibia, Nepal, Myanmar, Taiwan, Estonia, Serbia, Singapore, New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Ethiopia, Georgia, Slovakia, Denmark, Bolivia, Finland, Greece, Gabon and Togo.
