Yeah I'll take that. I did feel some of the monologue in the book could have been used.

In other news I'm excited and confused as to how series 2 is going to go.

There's a second season. READ THE BOOK. Seriously. I don't read many, but it's so so good.
 
so the series is going beyond the book? does it only have Offred's point of view?

I'm going to read it this year but I'll wait till autumn for a proper depressing setting :disco:

I've always meant to read the book and I was going to Kindle it when I started watching the series but thought I'd wait because I didn't want to ruin the series. I tend to devour good books and was worried it would spoil my viewing pleasure. But I'm going to read it now.
 
So no spoilers, but that's SORT of the END of the book. I can't see the actual final chapter troubling this series, seeing as how they're opening up plenty of other otherwise untold stories. I'm glad Atwood is involved otherwise the re-reading of her work would have been more of a struggle to view.
 
I liked the finale, they made Serena such a monster. Also that daughter should have grown a bit in three years.

I actually chocked when Moira meets the husband, the whole sequence with her as a refugee was really depressing.

The finale could work as a series finale so next year if the second season is shit I can pretend it never happened and just consider the first season canon. Also in season 2 they upped Alexis Bledel to regular so I guess we will be getting some other POVs. I would like an Aunt Lydia flashback.

Some of the narration was clunky but I would say they were trying to preserve the spirit of the book rather than over explain.
 
I've just started this but can't find episode 1 on demand. So im starting on episode 2 ns hoping it makes sense.
 
No not really. Mr Ag does all the downloading and streaming of illicit stuff. Glad to have helped.
 
I'm over half way through, and I love it. I really wish I'd read the book first now, not sure why it hasn't come up on my radar as I love anything to do with dystopian futures.
 
Is it not on all 4 @Rachey? Thats where I watched the first few. I'm now watching the ones that haven't been on TV via Kodi on my firestick.

I cried my eyes out at episode 3 with the flashbacks to how it all started :shy: It just seems so much more real seeing it on screen, like it really could happen :(

I am liking Ofglen (Emily)'s brand new story arc.

4oD on my TV has been fucked for days. What with my ACTATEL ONE TOUCH phone and watching TV on my laptop it all feels very regressive.

What TV do you have? Apparently there have been problems with Samsung Smart TV and some of their streaming services for a few days now.

Well I run it all through Sky because we don't have a normal tv aerial. Our sky has been messed up for a few days. I blamed the rabbit. But i cant find anything on All 4 today. Earlier I found episodes 2-6. An hour later and they've all gone.

To be fair it does often feel like we're racing toward some kind of fictional dystopian future. Do you have the number?
 
ANYHOO - watched the last 3 episodes last night. Overall I loved it, but the ending was just too open for S2 - if I read the book is there a lot more going on?

in the book she's taken and then we get a prologue where her diaries are being taught as a historical document after the world returned to normal. It is not 100% clear if she escaped.
 
Basically season 2 will pretty much be a new storyline (I would assume... unless she gets returned), however I'd say there's plenty of set pieces in the book that could still be used
 
The book is firmly entrenched in my All Time Top Thirty Seven.

However, I missed the TV adaptation on telly! Is it on Netflix or Amazon Prime yet?
 
The Emmy categories are so confusing. How does Alexis Bledel qualify for Best Guest Performance but Ann Dowd Best Supporting? It seems to me that they had about the same amount of screen time...

I thought Ann Dowd reaction was lovely and got a bit tears eyed at how emotional she was. Same happened when Atwood got a standing ovation.
