I think the only thing I own from Top Man are some lemon, grey and white check socks :wired:
Now, I love an independent MINIMAL boutique. We don’t want to be running around in the same as the rest of the town darling.

QVC then, Rita?

(Trufax - I had to Google that - I always thought it was "Stadler". Every day is a school day)

How OLD is he?

I thought an alarm went off and the shutters went down if you attempted entry and were over thirty in either years or waist inches

He is 38. He looks younger, and is impossibly pretty in a faux beckham circa 2005 way.

What fucking annoys me is that 90% of jeans these days are either Skinny or Super Skinny. Regular is hard to come by now.

I like a slim jean. But I'm too (a) old and (b) chunky thighed for anything narrower.

Talking of shops with everything all over the fucking place - Superdry is the WORST for that. Not that I shop there regularly, but there is absolutely no plan to it, things are just flung wherever they feel like it.

And the downside is, no matter where it is flung, it's all fucking Superdry.

Superdry is also appalling in terms of SIZES. I can barely get into their XXXL or whatever the fuck it is and I’m not THAT bloated

Now LITTLEWOODS CAFE TOILETS was where I was first DEBASED :disco:

He has our wedding ring tattooed on ( hopefully that’s a bitch to get lasered off) A massive rose on his right hand, a mic on his left. Stars, Roman numerals.

The amount of guys I see with rose tattoos on their hands is unreal! Also loads of guys with that black forest tattoo on their forearm. And stars on their elbows.

I can’t lie. I predictably absolutely love a muscular man with tattoos. I don’t however like workshy, lazy, human leeches so his time was up.

I badly want to think you're referring to a tattoo of a gateau, but don't want to get my hopes up.

This one, I'm sure you have seen it on someone...

That tall skinny tree looks more like an infection tracking up a vein.

Sounds like a massive bender to me.

He had a massive penis, but usually when they do they have an awful sense of entitlement.

Going back to earlier, more INTERESTING conversation points, WH Smith are actually doing amazingly- they’ve adapted their brand and railway stations/airports/travel industry generally is serving them brilliantly. The link up with post offices has helped as well- the future is bright, bizarrely- I can’t think I’ve been near one outside of an airport in YEARS, but they look like horridly over-cluttered 80s dumps.

HMV- one of my favourite topics. The main one near me has closed, as has Southampton- both supposedly cause of massive rent increases rather than poor sales, but interesting that neither have re-opened in other units, as promised. The little one in Gunwharf which mainly concentrates on DVDs (and still does, in a horrific echo of the CD crash which no one bothered to see coming) has, I noticed yesterday, finally increased its vinyl floor space and so hopefully is moving back towards that area- which surely is it’s saving grace...

This should really say HAS as I certainly never chopped it off, (although I felt like it at times) unless it has shrunk with the steroids he pumps.

I don't know, HMV v massive cocks is pretty much 50/50 to me.

As you were.

WHSmith can CUNT OFF, since my mum discovered last week they had failed to "activate" a book token I'd bought her. I knew I should have gone to Waterstones.

The whole retail thing feels like a pack of cards falling now, I dread to imagine what it'll be like in 10 years. It'll just be businesses where you actually require face to face service like hairdressers and opticians, a few fast food outlets, cafes, betting shops, the odd chemist and the cheap household goods shops for when you need a foil tray and some flash spray, and that's assuming you haven't bothered to get it from a supermarket so maybe the likes of Wilkinsons or whatever it's called now will be dead TOO.

Not exactly an empty high street, just not what we knew, but oh well

Although I will never prefer to buy clothes online. No size is ever a definite fit, you can't really be sure what it's going to look like either. And the FAFF if it's wrong. Shoes, yes, but not clothing.

All forms of entertainment media related shops feel redundant, though. I still use them but there's just no point the company paying for shop space and staff if it's all in freefall. I don't imagine Game have long left and I cannot believe HMV have any kind of future based on vinyl...

I haven’t bought any clothes online for home delivery for years. Whenever I do it I opt to click and collect in store, so if the item isn’t right I can rectify it instantly. At worst I’ll take it home and return it in store the next day. Returning items by post is a nightmare and often you still have to pay special delivery costs.

There are some retailers whose sizes I trust enough to buy online. But if it isn't one of those, then I'll do store delivery, like Ellie says.

I'll also buy through Amazon, if it's Prime. Returns then are easy, at least.

I went back to my hometown city centre a while back and its now 90% food outlets and most of those were some sort of pulled pork/fuck off stupid milkshake with a donut and added diabetes outlet.

It used to be amazing for shopping and small indis too.

And for all Topman's faults and ever shrinking jeans, they now allow you to order a fuck ton of stuff, not pay, and you send back what doesn't fit/suit, paying for what you keep. Once we have drone deliveries within an hour to where you sit, there will be so little need for a physical presence on the high street for retailers.

On the flip side, where Ms Ron is from is a small market town, the centre was on the way down the pan but they build a load of new shinny retail units anyway, aimed and priced at major chains. No fuckers moved into them, but the smaller older shops have now gone down in price (and rates) so small bars, cafes and restaurants are popping up, and the town is buzzing again at night.

I can see a time when cities and town centres turn pretty much back into social hubs for leisure rather than retail led, and that can only be a good thing. Walk around any small town in Spain and its at least 35-40% cafes, bars and restaurants, always busy with a nice little buzz.

BRB off to put "pulled pork" in the "popular things" thread
