I don’t usually bother with (or like) an analogue format if I want me some hyper-digital latex, balloons, bubbles, metallic clanks and what not ( x the whole world) but in this case I am EXTREMELY tempted

Just spinning it through again on vinyl and it sounds amazing; a wee bit warmer on vinyl and the punchier parts really sock you in the lugs. It's just magnificent - so downright odd but so accessible too.

Even I’ve stopped caring whether albums appear on CD or not although God knows it took some kicking, screaming and horrific tantrums (and an Arcam rBlink plus WAVs) to get there

I buy very little vinyl - 3 LPs this whole year, I think (one of the others being Charli XCX's double of her mixtapes and I had a cunt of a time getting that as well) but I basically refuse to have the things posted any more because they vanish or the sleeves get damaged all the bastard time.

Most of my music comes of downloads now - mainly Bandcamp but 7digital for pop and the occasional bargain (and Warp for Autechre. And SOPHIE, as it happens.)

Hey, I got the (very non-pop) Guttersnipe album as a 24-bit FLAC from 7digital. Not even Bleep did that.

I'm a bit fussy. Amazon can keep their VBR mp3's unless they are gratis with a physical and even then GET WITH IT GUYZZZZ.

Well it IS cheaper than lossless. The only difference I can tell is that lossless sounds a bit brighter but it might just be TOO bright for me so I'm fine with iTunes.

I’m sure you’ve heard this before () but I generally only ever buy it these days if the album (or whatever) was (oh here we go again ) analogue to begin with, so mainly second hand in other words. Mind you, I’m still tempted by Titsalina’s HOT GOODS especially with that very lovely poster

No idea...it isn't advertised as such anywhere on the packaging but it certainly isn't flimsy.

Of course, you do know that engineers maintain that the optimum weight for an LP is actually 140gm?

There's a clip of her confirming she'd been working with Gaga and she sounded much more Scottish so maybe that's her media voice (in the same way that I have a telephone voice). She's an enigma wrapped in a riddle wrapped in a QUEEN.

i really want to like this but i just can not. it veers between inconsequential noise and the banal dressed in pretense. though it might just be my aversion to the rather grotesque plastic surgery on display and probably more so people's apparent numbness (or worse idolation) of it thanks to the ubiquitous freakish lips and breasts and noses and asses everywhere in pop culture. i guess there's a point to it here (?) but i haven't really invested as the music hasn't connected.

i feel like i'm missing out. can anyone recommend a gateway song? it's ok to cry did nothing for me.

I can possibly see where @ameraal is coming from (apart from the “rather grotesque plastic surgery on display” - WHERE?) as I initially thought SOPHIE was truly awful and to be avoided at all costs - especially that dreadful ‘Ponyboy’ noise - but something happened when I saw the ’Faceshopping’ video and here I am fondling my stunning poster. Isn’t it ENORMOUS!

The first thing I heard was "Lemonade" and I was unmoved. I really came to her through "Vroom Vroom" - that whole EP is still a masterpiece, IMHO. So I was still "interested" when she issued "It's Okay To Cry" and I pretty much went full loon after two plays of the damn thing.

One day, I'll explain exactly why. But not today.

i don't know why extreme plastic surgery riles me up so much. probably cause it's awful and far too many dregs want to emulate it.

It appears these were prosthetic rather than surgery. She over-distorted her face is the same way that she does her voice on most songs. She's a very visual artist and she's said that she wanted to use her physical self more in the presentation so that she could effectively add her body to the available materials.

Fair enough, I think.
