Super Blood Wolf Monday

Having attended Mr F's WCA then the subsequent tribunal I can confirm that everybody attending is set up to fail from the outset.

It's the part of the job we all despise, and the only one that seems to be roundly ignored when it gets called out (Which happens every time staff have the opportunity to do so, believe me). We often say the best thing people can do is take it to tribunal, because that's the only way you're going to be put in front of someone who's on your side.

I kind of feel like I need to move this to the locked forum, I know how LITIGIOUS my employer can be.

Is it still ATOS contracted to do the examinations, @ButterTart?

I know they use 'healthcare professionals' now rather than doctors. And I think 'healthcare professional' can stretch to mean anyone who empties the bin.

It's CHDA now. And I'll have you know they only use the finest healthcare professionals to override the medical evidence provided by real doctors. Maureen from our centre had worked at the hospice cafe at Birmingham Good Hope hospital for nearly SIXTEEN YEARS before she got the nod to become an assessor.

It was rotten to the core when I left in 2006. Bugger only knows what it's like now.

Could people still smoke in the office when you were there? I hear tales of such things and I can't imagine what sort of utopia it must have been.

Well I was there from 1990 until 2006 in 3 or 4 different offices. You couldn't smoke at your desk, but there was always a smoking room until before the ban. In most offices it was a grotty little room tucked away somewhere, but I remember at one office when I started as a filing clerk it was a huge room with a snooker table, table tennis and a dart board in it. I never smoked but as soon as my boss flexed off at 3.30pm I'd be straight there.

Not only was I a ping pong fiend, all the best office gossip was in the smoking room.

We used to have a BAR at one place I used to work, which was also the smoking area. God knows how I got any work done with the constant to and fro but then again I probably didn’t, what with all the chat and Silk Cut to be had :side-eye:

Jesus where have those 12 years gone :o Feels like just a couple of years ago! I really need to work up the courage to leave my place and get somewhere closer to home

I need to move on again. I can't hack this job until I retire. Which hopefully is only another 12/13 years...

I watched I, Daniel Blake when it was on t’other week and bawled my eyes out. I’m guessing from this thread that it was an accurate portrayal. I was close to going on Facebook and doing a dramatic “If you vote Tory UNFRIEND ME RIGHT NOW”.
