I've never done Portugal outside of Lisbon. I don't do beach holidays, so the Algarve holds little appeal.

Porto is definitely going on the to do list, though.

I liked Faro a lot. The town itself is a bit run down, but the night time vibe was lovely and the coast around it is very nice...

I have went to an area outside Albufeira a couple of times. Stayed in a villa with very little nearby other than vineyards, and a couple of small local shops. I rather prefer that now than the tourist hot spots.
