Ariana Grande - thank u, next (5th album)

hopefully the rest of the album is not come inducing shit like the singles have been
I mean, I DO like 7 rings and this one sounds alright but uhm Ari we NEED something chunkier, or at least I do

I wanted something really EPIC to happen in ghostin’ but it just never quite made it.

What? Christ, that is not filling me with confidence here!
It's unfinished in that they started writing it, didn't finish it, went back to it and decided to leave it that way. She didn't want it on the album because it's too painful for her and the only song she can't listen to but Scooter loved it and wanted it on the album.

OK. That's fair enough. One of Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies is: "Is It Finished?". If It's fine by Eno then I'll let it go.

This album is all filler. Her songs have become so disposable.

"Bad Idea" is quite nice though

Maybe I have to try harder but it is a bit SAMEY. Is there a “Breathin” anywhere to be found?

I do quite like “NASA” and “Fake Smile”

no

Bad Idea and Bloodline stand out for me causee they're the only ones using a different backing track :D it's ridicolous how the rest all blend into very long song

The schtick of using some audio-sampling in the beginning of the songs wears thin after a while too

Not big on the new album. I think it says something about my penchant for MISERY that for the second album in a row, my favourite track is about her (now) DEAD BOYFRIEND.

Number 1 in the UK midweeks, with 7 Rings and break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored battling for the number 1 singles spot with less than 50 combined sales between them.

At least if the chart will be flooded it’s woth someone good (if not with anything good)

I wish it had been Into You, Break Free and One Last Time battling for the no.1 on the same week

Ooft. As they say.

Break Free and the bomb remain the most interesting things about this bitch.

It's all so fucking anemic. I overheard some teenage girls obsessing over her the other day "the lyrics are so deep, I need to see her... I need to meet her!"

REALLY? Her music is so background. I assume her personal tragedies are partly what keep her in fans.

even elevator muzak is more interesting than her new album.

WHAT'S there to like? I identify with what Ag mentions but in my experience I've overheard both teenage girls and 20 something gays, but I feel that their obsession comes down to wanting to be her, dress like her and LOOK like her rather han her "deep" lyrics and "amazing" songs.

so I may bop ironically to thank u next and 7 rings some times but all in all it's all so sad she's wasting her potential onthis material rather keep farting out good songs like she did in the past. Break Free and Into You found DEAD. Her new tour is starting in a bit and I wouldn't be surprised if she does get rid of what Moopy likes.

*performs the whole Sweetener and thank u next albums minus Breathing"

if she disowns Break Free, Into you, Greedy, Breathing, One last time or Touch it on the tour BALLS will be cut

Well, make sure they're your own, you big weirdo.

(PS - she'll always play One Last Time in the UK, I expect)

No. 1, of course. Also, replaces herself at #1 on the singles chart.

Oooft! As they say.

I actually think this is a really good album. There’s definitely no stand out that cries out to be a stand alone track in this playlist era of music but after a few listens all the tracks are solid.

i was at a (younger) friend's birthday last night and one of his girlfriends (back from the uk where she lives for a couple of days) was making us listen to 7 rings, 21 savage, drake and fanmail-era tlc (bleurgh).

"oh i don't like ariana grande at all but this song is so cool!"

not enough mansons in the world. and i officially despise 7 rings now. ariana really has gone to shit and dominated all the basic bitches in a split second.

I like the track she did about Mac Miller on the new album but I'm sick to death of her, her new Sim-like face seems to be everywhere at the moment and the songs aren't even that good. In fairness I do like Drake and the British legend 21 Savage though, there is no accounting for taste.

How much money you got
A LOT :england:

i don't mind either (at all) but i think both are highly overrated.

7 rings however is just offensive. yes, i know it's the old man in me but i have zero time for tacky girls singing tinny songs glorifying vapid behaviour and consumerism all the while parading as female empowerment. or something.

I'm loving this album even more over time. I really enjoyed Sweetener too (the highs are higher on Sweetener) but as an overall product 'thank you, next' is the better of the two.

Of the album tracks, I'm loving bloodline, NASA and bad idea. Love the slow motion breakdown at the end of bad idea.
