The Blow Monkeys's bass player was an odd cove - he moved like he was trying to hold in a gut-ending fart on a first date and looked like he carried a poison-tipped umbrella and wore an earpiece to keep touch with someone known simply as "Z".

Ah...The Smiths...almost sad to watch given what was to come..within 6 months, they would make another classic single, their best album and split.
And of course, Morrissey is a total cunt now too. But in that clip, double denimed, quiffed and wearing his own bloody merch, he was somehow the coolest man on Earth. And yet, probably unbeknownst even to them, they had already played their last gig.
Yeah, actually sad to watch.
Cheered up by Peelie being his usual self doing the Top 40 rundown tho'. What a treasure.

Level 42 were a weird one...started as a cult jazz/funk outfit, all extended live jams and so on...had one hit, enjoyed the feeling and wrote another dozen or so. Strange trajectory. Largely shit as well. Hated Mark King and his bass style at the time, still do. (fun fact, the guitarist wrote most of the music and the drummer most of the words but the other two were always front and centre - no wonder that was the split that happened in the band)
