Tuesday blows a gooseberry

The sun is out, the sky is blue and because it's Glasgow in the morning, it's bloody cold.

However, working in an all-glass building, it is roasting in here.
 
I've just been to the dentist, the sun is out and I didn't even wear a coat because it's that warm. It's still February!
 
I think GP must be a tough gig as well - you're expected to know everything about everything rather than being a first port of call. My current GP is awesome, so was her predecessor. Best GP I ever had was sadly just doing a placement at the practice but, hey, can't have everything.
 
It's just the pressure and unworkable systems. In 10 mins you can't get anything done. I get 20 mins with each person and sometimes the first 5 mins is just them getting in the room and sitting down
 
I know in some parts of the city here, surgeries are having awful problems recruiting GPs. They sometimes can't even get locums in to cover sessions.
 
I'm not surprised. I was talking to a GP partner friend of mine and asked why she didn't increase to 20 min appointments. She said how her current waiting time round increase from 3 wks to 6 wks. I didn't even think of that :(
 
I walked into work this morning to discover that the boss had rearranged parts of my office yesterday when I was off so everything's in the wrong places now.
 
It's odd though - I'm sure a degree of it is around how surgeries are organised and managed. At my surgery, if I phone for an appointment, it's probably 2-3 weeks. If I went online, I'd probably be offered one in 7 days or so. If it was more urgent I can phone and ask for a phone call, and then if a GP spoke to me and decided I needed to be seen, they could book me in with the on call GP in a day or two.

That's probably pretty average from my knowledge of working in a number of practices. Some a little longer, some shorter.

But one of the practices where I work, which operates a system where you only ever see your named GP unless they are on leave/sick etc, somehow manages to offer appointments within a day or two as standard. I don't know how they manage it, but it clearly can be done.
 
Actually my gp surgery is great, I don't have to wait long usually. I've a feeling they're gonna chuck me out though because I've just changed address from my mum's to mine and it's about half a mile out.. shame really as I've been with them since I was born.
 
What a GORGEOUS day. Driving with the roof down in February is EXHILIRATING. :disco:
 
I thought you had a Range Reet? or do you have your own FLEET?

They aren't allowed to throw you out just because of moving any more, are they? Here they don't certainly - although most encourage it. If you're out of the standard area they ask you to sign a form stating that you understand you won't be entitled to home visits.

Also I know some places have an inner and an outer catchment area; if you were previously in the inner one and move to the outer one you're okay - but if you were from completely outside of the area previously but then moved into the outer one, they wouldn't let you register.

Are you in a good catchment area for schools for Kylie, or are you going to have to move/use a family address/fake Catholicism to stop him mixing with the feral scum?
 
Ugh I am finishing on Friday for a weeks holiday (of doing nothing but long lies and house stuff) but as a result I’m feeling like I need to fit two weeks work in to one

* goes bald by Friday *

Oh that's interesting, I didn't know that! I'll push to stay with them then because it's only a 10 min drive and I really like it there.

School wise a local teacher told me we're in a 'right black hole'. I'm not going to worry about it for now though as we've still a couple of years to go. Otherwise I'll fake Catholicism like I did for 6th form...

Try working for yourself.

I have loads of work coming in, loads of money as a result, can't go on holiday or do anything to enjoy it.

Oh well, I'm sure the tories will put all my tax to good use and help the poor or something.

Have you checked your local council website for when you need to apply for a school place? Only asking because office girl had to apply and put her three preferences in when her little boy turned two. She forgot to do it and is having to go through all sorts of rigmarole and he's only just three now but it looks like he might not have a place at her first preference already.

I bought a Range Rover last Winter as my Cabriolet felt unsafe in deep snow. Of course, since I bought the Range Rover we have been blessed with temperatures in the late teens in the darkest depths of Winter. So not quite a fleet Ron, just the two.
