A four hour seemingly #metoo documentary on Michael Jackson's alleged preference for kiddy noncing is apparently about to come out, based around the stories of two of the kids he was "friendly with".

Looking at the comments on the reviews I would say no.
 
Did anyone watch this? His fans are all over twitter attacking anyone who says they believe it. Also Oprah did interviews with the accusers.
 
The BBC have announced that they will no longer play Jacko's music.

I have no plan to watch this - I don't need convincing though.
 
I think the BBC deciding to do that is a bit premature

Neither was Jimmy Savile.

I think the BBC are erring on the side of caution here - considering how negligent they were in dealing with Savile.
 
I don’t know how I feel about all of this. It does seem ridiculous that it’s “their word vs his” and suddenly he’s blacklisted but LET’S FACE IT, he probably was a nonce...

So generally I was wondering if a musician turns out to be a nonce/cunt/twat etc such as MJ seems to have been and like Morrissey has been over the past few years (not the nonce part as far as I’m aware) does it make their music unlistenable now or are you able to separate enjoying the music from the person?

I think I can separate being a twat from their art. Being a nonce if another thing though. I wonder if that alone would tarnish the music so much that I wouldn't want to listen to it. But then I've never really been tested...

As far as Jackson is concerned, as much as I love loads of his 70s and 80s stuff, it's a very long time since I've actively sought his music out - it tends to find you.
 
^Yeah, I know what you mean. I’ve never bought a record of his, put a song on a playlist or consciously chose to play one yet know so many almost word for word.

I still play "Off the Wall" fairly regularly and, to a lesser extent, "Thriller" and "Dangerous".

Now, here's the next question- are we still allowed to play The Jackson Five stuff from when he was a kid and therefore obviously NOT a nonce...

For me it’s more with movies, but I still enjoy Roman Polanski movies and I’ll dabble with Woody Alan if the cast is good.
 
I was thinking about this earlier and I think it's going to be REALLY hard for the media or indeed anyone to treat Michael Jackson's music with the same retrospective contempt and censorship as R. Kelly, Gary Glitter, etc.

His music is SO woven into the fabric of popular culture - as @lolly said, it finds the listener often more times than the listener finds it. Stuff like Thriller still underpins MTV culture much more than anything by R. Kelly. When it comes down to it, pulling things from streaming and other platforms to me feels like acts trying to pretend that it didn't happen. Gaga put out a statement, sure, but other acts just quietly removed things as if they're hoping that eventually people just won't notice that they worked with an artist. But how can you ever pretend that Michael Jackson didn't happen?

If you ever want to listen to his music after the description of him rimming a 7 year old, then that's on you.

Well those were four hours of horror, the descriptions of what he did to them....having watched Abducted in Plain Sight recently, it feels all too familiar. The way he groomed them and the parents.

I always kinda believed it, but wasn't quite sure. After being exposed to such testimony I have no doubt. It's easy to say they're doing it for the $$$, but there's easier ways to make money than going on TV and revealing that sick horror story. We had to pause it a couple of times to take a break.

I watched the first half of this last night and I could not get to sleep and was awake until 4am with a sick feeling in my stomach. I have absolutely no doubt that these allegations are true. He was just SO brazen about the whole thing. And when you think about some of the songs he wrote - In The Closet is one that stands out:

He carried out some of the abuse IN HIS FUCKING CLOSET. What a SICK FUCK.

The Jacko fans defence seems to be that he was a Neneh Cherry loving man-child, reliving the childhood he never had, who because he was rich and famous was being extorted by devious children.

Conveniently ignoring that this man who supposedly loved all children, had intense friendships with ONLY boys that ended soon after the boys reached puberty when they were replaced. Whose home was designed to be appealing to children.Who slept in beds alone with these boys. Who was inappropriately tactile with them, as many photos show. Who lavished them and their families with money and gifts. Who had porn and alcohol openly lying around in areas frequented by children. Who has been accused by several boys of abuse and paid them off.

I wonder.
