12:10 and no morning thread?

You lot disappoint me

In other news, I've been to the pub for lunch to celebrate the anniversary of the death of Margaret Thatcher.

Any excuse.

Ah, that was a joyful day indeed. Would have been even more so if nit had happened in December 1979 but, hey, let's not nitpick.

In other news, I'm beginning to feel a bit human again. The Zopiclone Knockout is giving my poor ailing brain a proper rest and I am fair feeling the benefits.

In a mo', I'm popping out for my second walk of the day.

After a three-month drought, a descent into abject poverty and many strange sexual dreams, I finally have another two job interviews coming up later this week.

The last three have been total busts, but I still believe in my natural charm and I am expecting to sleep with at least one interviewer.

This sun is glorious and all that but its reduced my motivation to zero.

I've just been invited to a RETIREMENT SYMPOSIUM for one of my PhD supervisors

I kind of feel I should go although it will be DEADLY DULL. Mind you I could try and catch up with the ex-Mr S while I'm there. Hopefully after 20 years we can now have a civil conversation without it descending into SPONTANEOUS NOBBING followed by REGRET. Oh those were the days.

Forgive my ignorance but what the frig is a "retirement symposium"?

Surely if they're retiring they can stop using all the poncey lingo.

I might call as "retirement symposium" when I leave my current job and hold an actual symposium out of spite.

I might volunteer to do a "10 minute contribution on the prof's research career and consultancies" and then tell some JUICY and FILTHY anecdotes
