Carly Rae Jepsen - Dedicated (new album)

Too Much is excellent - the first track since Party For One to raise the pulse. I'm really into it :disco:

It’s SO fucking good :disco:

She was an utter joy on Table Manners this week. Just so adorable - she’s legit a real life Disney Princess <3

I like that but I hope The Knocks get their hands on it.

It is gorgeous as it is, but in a more kind world where Carly Rae Jepsen actually has hits a danced up version of that chorus would smash.

Well, the album is, er...

I can’t quite get past Everything He Needs, which defies explanation.

well, i for one (allegedly not easily pleased queen of over-thinking) am quite enjoying it on first listen.

The first three tracks are skippable but the rest of the album is really enjoyable. Highlights on first listen are Real Love (THE obvious single), Want You In My Room, Feels Right and of course Too Much :disco: she released completely the wrong tracks in advance but as a body of work it feels really fresh, and a well-judged understated swerve away from the big pop of Emotion. It feels just experimental enough in places and her voice ties everything together beautifully. GOOD JOB JEPPO!

I like Everything He Needs :D

I just can’t find the words.

It sounds like something that belongs on a 2007 Vanessa Hudgens album. And I still don’t know whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

It’s definitely more understated than E•MO•TION but sonically very much within the same realm.

I think from a critical perspective that makes it an easy sell. Whether that’ll translate to the fans, we’ll see...

about to dive into this now. :disco: (80 on metacritic!)

Thing is, though, critics are generally bound to like it because it’s coming off a slow burning critical hit. I think critics are quite often guilty of making good retrospectively for previous works...

It didn’t really burn at all (except in the hearts of ten gays).

But I agree.

:( I don’t think this one will.

I still LOVE HER though and the charts would be a poorer place without her.

Well, not the ACTUAL charts, obviously.

Julien > Warm Blood
No Drug Like Me > Cut To The Feeling

REALLY?
Have you watched 'Kelly Clarkson Ranks Her Own Songs' on the same channel? She ranked "Whole Lotta Woman" #1 :D

There's a reason Clive was always so insistent on having the FINAL WORD

Quite ridiculously I haven't listened to this yet. My copy from Amazon is being returned due to their incorrect tracklisting information (still up) and I haven't been moved to investigate on Spotify for some reason.

ok, i'm having a proper moment to this album today.

now that i found you is up there with her very best for me now.
i finally like julien!
it's her kitschy/80s/daft punk album i never knew i wanted.
happy not knowing seems to be the weakest link for now and even that is at least ok.
the singles. want you in my room. the sound. i'll be your girl.
right words wrong time
sounds like a britney ft tinashe song. love.
the most different seems to be i'll be your girl. i find it exciting, hope it hits me proper at some point.
it's pretty long but i like that the songs are so short so that kinda balanced it out.
too much is a bit of a sultry banger, isn't it? reminds me of a less prissy delicate.

i feel like i'm almost ready for a first rate...

Debuts at #26 in the UK.

Which isn’t actually that much of a dip on the previous album.
