The Handmaid's Tale (TV Series)

See I caught vibes when he bent over the snooker table in front of Fred but dismissed it as my overactive imagination.

I was quite horrified by the Handmaids' mutilations too, so much so that I had to rewind that part and get close up to the telly to see whether what I'd thought I'd seen was true.

he will have to spread 'em if he wants that BRAND NEW LIFE away from the psycho handmaid formerly known as Offred :disco:

it could go something like this: Commander Waterford reluctantly gives up his cherry to his senior and gets advanced, things then turn sour politically between them and the daddy guiltlessly OUTS Waterford for being a GENDER TRAITOR!
Here for this! :disco:

Mr F was watching a film on his tablet last night while I was watching Handmaid on the big telly. At the end he asked how much of the programme was just taken up by June's facial expression close-ups so I said probably half of it.

now I don't remember how the episode ended but that was a NASTY ie GOOD one. FINALLY!

The only way that this series can have a satisfactory finale for me is a gory and violent death for the Waterfords. They just anger me so much at this point.

I don't know if there will be but a season where she goes to Chicago to join the resistance and have a dramatic face off with Nick would keep things interesting...

Serena will probably flee Gilead and the Commander will be sodomized and hung on the wall. HA!

This episode! It was as satisfying as being fucked senseless by a nice thick cock! I was ready to give up on this shit after after the pure sadism of the hospital episode. I'm alright with having a final season where they tear Gilead apart. In your fucking face Serena! In your fucking face Fred!

Its definitely been the highlight of the season thus far. Though, don’t you think Serena was actually in on this? I thought the whole change of heart about Nichole was a bit off, especially when June tried to kill her a few episodes ago with no consequence. I’m sure she is going to be as involved with the rebellion as June.

I think Serena is on the fence and just not sure what she wants. She was firmly on Fred’s side a few episodes ago. Now she has turned him over but I’m not sure she’s fully convinced she did the right thing. For now she’s still a selfish cunt to me. And I need to watch that episode again :disco:

she was definitely in on it. she knew she wasn't coming back hence the parting words with her Martha

bit sad we never got to see any bumming :(

Finally found myself a site that will let me stream from the UK so I've finally seen episode 10! Tried sending the link to the spawn through various platforms but kept getting told that the link was against terms of service (FB said community standards) so I've ingeniously sent it in an apple message as words and it starts with "hop to the page secretly colon slash slash"

I feel as devious as June arranging to get the children out :D

Onwards and upwards to episode 11, may the lord bless it.

I loved the finale! Was hoping that Nick would be one of the eyes in the airport jeep and either help the children onto the plane or start gunning them all down willy-nilly. Either that or Aunt Lydia would turn up and redeem herself, I love to hate her. It was also nice to see Serena getting her just-desserts too.

Roll on Season 4!

No. she's just a fucking cunt that is rotten to the core.

I'm only up to whatever the hospital episode was (more or less just following at C4 pace) and much as it's enjoyable I do wish it would just fucking END :D

They are managing to get the material but it wasn't necessary to go on for 3/4 seasons

I couldn't go on at UK pace any longer (I had to mute Hulu and Handmaids on Hulu on Twitter so as not to see any spoilers) so I found an online stream and watched it through a VPN. It'll be worth the wait for the finale, trust me! Season 4 is set up nicely.

This third season has been rubbish but I do anticipate there will be a crossover onto the sequel novel, either in series 4 or maybe even 5 (:zombie: ) .

I'm going to an Audience with QUEEN Atwood as part of her book launch. If I get selected for a question I'll ask her about that.

My biggest critique of series 2 and 3 has been how far they've strayed away from the original text. I've enjoyed both the series' (I say enjoyed - I was engaged with) but they've focused so much on the cruelty of it. Sure that was a feature of the original book, but having read it a couple of times, what I took away from the text was how lonely and isolated she was. In the most recent series she has a fully fledged social and information gathering network, while she's been on a plane,
spoken on a phone, listened to music, arranged the evacuation of 60 odd kids
etc etc. Also she's the luckiest bitch alive. Seeing what she's done and the low threshold for being put on the wall, she remains so protected, as if anyone there gives a fuck about her.

Despite all that, I do still love it.

great finale, even if she botched her, what, third or fourth attempt of GETTING THE FUCK OUT OF THERE

it did irk me however in the penultimate episode that the wife of the manhandled Commander was there for consolation when she lives all the way up in Washington, and her only connection to the Boston milieu was the Waterfords. FAIL!

Just finished the season. I might be as easily entertained as Miss Floppet but Miss June has still got away with way too much for Gilead. The plot is still going strong but I wouldn't mind it if they ended it the next season.

In a special edition of Front Row Late, Mary Beard meets Margaret Atwood.
As the acclaimed Canadian novelist’s sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale - The Testaments - is published, in a wide-ranging encounter she talks to Mary Beard about how Gilead has changed almost 35 years on from the original book; how the cloak which features in the TV adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale has become a symbol of protest around the world; about her responses to the current political climate; about the accusation that she is a ‘bad feminist’; and about the hype surrounding the release of this new book.

blessed be the fruit!

everyone's favourite Karen is back in a minute

I hope the Die Hard tempo of the trailer is not indicative of the general pace of the new season. I do hope this season concludes the story though, I don't think it would be pretty to give it a much longer life

I've finally binged all of this and I am obsessed. podcast episode by episode analysis obsessed right now. livid that the best one doesn't go past season one though.

thrilled to see june take on aunt lydia face to face next season.

I agree that this season needs to be the last, otherwise the frequent almost-escapes are just going to be too much.

I gave up midway through the last season. The fact that it keeps getting extended gives me zero inclination to return to it.

June is back for another round of thrilling adventures :)

Has anyone found the courage to inflict the first 3 episodes upon themselves?
