I cannot believe this day has actually come. The tears of excitement and joy when I read that Mademoiselle was de retour! They made my Enya antics look restrained! (Merci merci merci @northernlad. I might never have known otherwise)

Isn’t it fantastic? I’m as far from disappointed as it’s possible to be! I love the Brel-esque vocal attack at the beginning and the insanely fast singing and the see-sawing, slightly out of time accordion and the completely different song which turns up halfway though and the way the rhythm reminds me somewhat of ‘Dancing Lasha Tumbai’. I feel quite sure that the whole album might be equally demented

This is fabulously demented :disco: I’m SO HAPPY she hasn’t returned with some bland tat that we all forget about after 5 minutes.

I’m not 100% sure what I make of this as yet, but I’m cheering towards GENIUS rather than horror :disco:

If this is the single, I can’t wait to hear what the album contains :D It’s like she exists in a genre all of her own making.
 
Déroutant, je ne sais pas trop quoi penser de cette chanson en fait...

The backing track is Stromae x Romania, with vocal shades of Piaf, Mireille, Brel, and Crazy FUCKING Frog. I don't know if I can with that chorus.
 
ugh, i want to hate everything about this but i'm not sure i do. i mean the ridiculousness of it all must be worth a few points.

We played this at a friend's last Saturday night. The reactions were a mix of horror and uncontrollable laughter. Sorry girls, this is not happening in France :disco:

There’s a certain novelty edge to it which means that I’ve not been returning to it as much as I hoped I would, but maybe the eventual appearance of la vidéo will set me back on track
 
Still no video and we’re talking TWO MONTHS ON. I wish she’d just left it at the one album now

I’ve been wondering the exact same thing! Honestly Indila! Making Enya look productive! TBH this didn’t have very much staying power for me and didn’t seem to do very much anywhere. Maybe she’s given up :(

Spending that much time on the second album has been, I think, UNE GRAVE ERREUR. I suspect there’s been a lot of overthinking going on. Never mind, ‘Mini World’ remains amazing and we’ll always have that :disco:
 
Whilst on the subject of people channeling The High Priestess Of Stars and Sky and taking forever to come up with new goods, it’s now SEVEN YEARS since Stromae’s ‘Racine carrée’! He seems to have had some anxiety and physical health issues so I can see why but even so...
 
I mean she’s never going to top Derniere Danse and after realising this tat that didn’t even chart I don’t blame her for doing a Maddie.
 
Has she DIED? Surely our esteemed French correspondents (DC) can tell us SOMETHING :shock:
