But with the Shakespear’s Sister recent reunion and topic I thought that was more obvious. Rihanna didn’t even cross my mind as she has so many more hits.

There was NO INTENT at cross over questions, despite how it turned out.

Several players were in the habit of assuming there was some kind of intent behind questions, but I can assure ya'll that while some were deliberately vague or specific, beyond that it was entirely up to the collective Moopy consciousness. Some of the popular answers were big surprises.

Also question construction is quite the ART FORM, as is collating answers together.

Giving the Rihanna example, I read the first question, put in "Don't Stop The Music" then had Rihanna on my mind when reading the next question, which made me go for her over Shakespear's Sister. I then subsequently replaced DTSM with "Stay" for the previous question as I thought others would think/do the same. Obviously I was wrong though!

If it helps, I nearly did but assumed Moopy would be too stupid to follow logic :)

I actually answered the questions this week for fun like...

  1. Name a Swedish music act that’s not ABBA - Ace of Base
  2. Name a song by Prince - Purple Rain
  3. Name a musical act that is also a convicted criminal - Gary Glitter
  4. Name a Mariah Carey album - Music Box
  5. Name a 1970s rock act - Pink Floyd
  6. Name a song involving Nile Rodgers - Get Lucky
  7. Name a living classical music composer - Phillip Glass
  8. Name a song by Justin Bieber - Baby
  9. Name a reggae hit from the 90's - Boombastic
  10. Name a superstar DJ - Calvin Harris
  11. Name a song and artist that refers to another famous person in the title - Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood
  12. Name a popular jazz musician - Miles Davis
  13. Name a song and artist where the artist is fictional - Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood
  14. Name a Rihanna single that was not a US number 1 - Don't Stop the Music
  15. Name an act who sang a song called “Stay” - Sam Smith (!)

never heard of them outside of Moopy

I didn't fully understand why Floppet got a 0 when she failed to say both song and artist. The rules state the answer doesn't have to be correct, so shouldn't she get 1 point for her answer?

Thanks for thinking of me @Alla but I'm not competitive at all so I'm not bothered, I only get upset when I come last and it's Mr F's fault. Or as we say in my neck of the woods ... I'm not rightly mithered.

"You may be penalised for giving ambiguous or vague answers. Ambiguous or vague answers will usually not be combined with more specific versions of the same answer. My decision is final."

Basically there was old rule that I got rid of and included within this one, that if the request in the question was not met than zero points would be rewarded. In this case, failing to answer both parts of the question met that criteria.

Wrong answers were as ever awarded points.

I love Rihanna's "Stay". Wasn't it a Moopy obsession at some point?

Fair enough. I didn't think the answer was ambiguous or vague, just a mistake, so I would consider it just a wrong answer, but your game, your criteria.
For me an ambiguous answer would be something like "name an Oscar winning actress - Julie" or something like that, just trying to get extra points for every Julie that won. Oh I don't know.

I also fell for the Rihanna/Stay non-trick and deleted my Shakespeare's Sister original answer. Was also going to put Robyn for the Swedish group but thought I'd better go with Ace of Base or Roxette to be on the safe side.

I'm completely useless at Moopy FF but I do love playing it :D

I was so sure it was going to be between Ace of Base and Roxette, obviously I chose the worst option.

I didn't even remember Rihanna's Stay. I would answer Shakespeare's Sister's, with or without reunion. I mean, come on!

We both chose that worst option. I didn't even know that Rihanna had a song called Stay until I had to google for her not-number-1 song and then I thought that maybe others would have known that already and done the same. If it makes any difference I have SS's Stay on 7" vinyl from the olden days, I didn't even know there was a reunion.

Shakespears Sister’s Stay is and always will be EPIC.

Oh I did quite well this time. Sad to see it end. Massive appreciation for Ag.

I was genuinely surprised Fetch was the only other one to say Fleetwood Mac for the 70s question, but then I realised jivafox didn't bother to play.

That was one I second guessed myself on and went for what I mistakenly would be more Moopy than Led Zeppelin (see also Billie Holiday and Miles Davis). Bit of an iffy round for me.

Oh and I thought Robert De Niro's Waiting would walk that question, and outscored by Mika of all things. Well worth giving that picture an airing anyway and good show all round, thanks Ag.

OMG!!!! That's my first ever top 10 ANYTHING on Moopy! Moopyrate - no, POTW - nope... but now Moopy FF Number 10 climbing three places. Best moment of my life.
