Absolutely in love with this cheesy retro banger. Might spend the morning sniffing poppers and raving on my own.

I am actually working at home today, but I do have a fair bit on. Woke up and couldn't face the office, so thought I'd spend the day with a better view and less people whining.

I am so late for work today. I’ve even missed the late bus that gets me in late. Ugh.

Another day of brick and saw dust EVERYWHERE. With NO ELECTRICITY to boot. We are however getting a NEW OVEN and TWO NEW DOORS, so that's something.

Good Morning Moopy. Looks like I have brought the sunshine home with me. All my clothes have been dropped off at the laundrette because I quite simply can’t be ARSED.

I can't see smilies at work but some of them were a bit wonky last week...do we have these backed up somewhere, @Indie ?

I was with my son, who is now in the huff that I sent him back to school today. Blame the government darling, not ME.

Hmm, smilies appear to be working on phone, but not work. Might be a new paywall or something. We should rehost them.

I'm at the Uni campus about to start some paid research. God I've missed this place.

Some stupid fucking kid has just driven into my car and then tried to blame me. I'm now on hold making my first claim in 16 years of driving.

Darling don’t you have a washing machine?

All the launderettes round here seem to have closed down* which is terribly disappointing, even if clothes always seemed to come out dirtier than they went in, and you always had to check the drum for a discarded pair of severely crusted pants before popping in your bras. Also, never trust a service wash: everything comes back with chip fat all over it

* I expect there are still a few up the Roman though :disco:

You know what, I have 'a thing' for laundrettes. I've always wanted to do a glossy photobook of them.

Oh I always used to love them. The Diabetic Duchess of Doom and Dismality used to preside over my local one. “I’m diabetic. Shouldn’t be eating chips.” *eats chips*

Also, every anecdote invariably ended in a dreadful tragedy. “Someone who looks like you used to come in here. Lovely man. Well. Opened his front door one day. Had acid thrown in his face.”

Actually I do hope she meant that he looked like me BEFORE this ghastly incident :side-eye:

it feels like I spent half my childhood in coin laundries. I've successfully avoided them as an adult

The year I spent living about the laundry at university has given me an irrational hatred of them. WHO PUTS THEIR WASHING ON at 3AM? I used to sneak down and TAKE THE FUSES OUT OF THE PLUGS :D

for me the lowlights were definitely when a) some other destitute bugger took out your clothes of the dryer to use your hard earned minutes for themselves and b) when the spinner would catch fire

The tumble driers were always fucking appalling actually. A spin which could only be described as LOOSE at a temperature which could be described as NOT EXACTLY HOT and all of this at a price best described as OPPORTUNISTIC

I think this is why I like them, I have a very early memory of being in one with my mum, and it being all warm and cosy while it was wet and grey outside. *sigh*

I sometimes forget we lived in abject poverty compared to todays standards, we didn't have a car or phone back in t'day.

Of course I have a washing machine. I just couldn’t be bothered using it. We have a lovely lady called Pat that runs the laundrette here. I drop it off with her and she washes, dries and irons it all, so I usually bring most things to her.

My mum used to take me to the launderette too. It was always warm and always smelt lovely. Then she had twins and a machine at home became a necessity.

I might go and hang around my nearest coin-op asap.

We didn’t have a laundrette where I grew up. Now THAT was poverty.

For some reason it took me ages to get round to buying a washing machine when I moved into my own flat and I was often known to hand wash items in the bath :zombie:

And in the years prior to that, Mama Yvvy used to BOIL TOWELS. The stench still haunts. This was during the era when we had a coal fire and a bunker in the garden :)

I still make do with the local river or cow's urine
