gave a try but gave up on: shrill
:o really? why? it's so short! I was really surprised by it. There are a couple of really big emotional moments toward the end that Aidy Bryant absolutely knocks out of the park. It's really just a show about shame and empathy I think, and I loved it.

i like bryant, but i just wasn't feeling this at all and gave it up after one episode - i think it was after giving dietland a chance so i was like enough.

trying to be a lot more selective what i watch these days which i guess is a double edged sword considering some shows need a few episodes (even seasons sometimes) to hit their stride.

I never got to watch the last season of Downton Abbey, but now I see a movie is coming out so I guess I’d better watch the whole show in anticipation for a cinema night with my fellow old lady friends.

I'm finding MOLANG quite LIFE-CHANGING

maxresdefault.jpg

It ought to be available on PRESCRIPTION!

started on becoming a god in central florida today. it's about a working class girl who as far as i can tell is going to get into the pyramid scheme type company her husband worked for. it's supposed to be set in the early 90s though in the fine tradition of new us tv it heavily used laura branigan's self control in the pilot.

looks pretty promising and i cannot overstate how much i love kirsten dunst. she's such a great actress but she is also really good at picking projects. unexpectedly beth ditto is in the cast as well. can't say it didn't take me a pretty while to realise that was her.

I can’t believe the relatively middling ratings for ‘Russian Doll’. It was my most favourite TV thing in YEARS. I absolutely loved the constant dying / back-to-the-beginning-yet-not-quite-the-same thing, and as for the conversation in the lift when she first meets the other one who’s always dying... :disco:

Mind you, I was on Diazepam at the time :side-eye:

@Yvonne Mondle, i enjoyed the premise and thought it started off very well, though i'm a bit ambivalent about the young female danny devito, but it just wasn't very well done.

in my opinion!

Years and Years added (and it was a waste of time).

Catching up with Room 104, never made it past mid-season 1, but season 2 has an episode with Katya in it, so that’s something to look forward to.

Season 2 of ELITE is here to satisfy my YEN for TRASHY SPANISH MELODRAMA :disco:

i started watching undone. it's animated (looks like it's drawn over live-action), about a seemingly self-destructive, restless young woman. the first episode was super promising.

Watched Unbelievable on Netflix, tough but really good. Merrit Wever and Toni Colette together are amazing.

I saw the trailer and thought DREAM TEAM. I'm glad it seems worth watching, will probably watch that after I'm done with the first season of Dark (which is OK but mostly because it's German)

we were trying to watch the last OITNB season but dios mio what a drag. did the dog eat their script?!

binged undone in a jiff. i really liked it although it's very sentimental, some little bits were just a tad undercooked and i expected more from the end. it definitely went places and i found it rather touching and fresh. one of the guys behind it did bojack horseman.

unbelievable next.

Forgot to mention The Deuce. We don’t seem to have a topic about it, it’s a really good, hidden HBO gem with Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco. Third and last season is on now. Really recommended.

I’ll post the trailer of the first season here:

i keep meaning to give that a go... there's just so fucking much out there.

I watched like 3 episodes, it’s good but also I don’t want to watch more.

I didn’t start watching until last year because the theme and era doesn’t excite me that much, but it has a great ensemble and really does build up a nice story towards the end of S1, and S2 is just exquisite. So give it more than three episodes.

there's just so fucking much out there.

This is my ”problem” too, it stresses me out to have so much to watch and yet I can’t stop adding more. I’m trying to restrict myself to one streaming service though, avoiding Netflix. Their shows are usually worse anyway.

same regarding the theme and era of the deuce. i do quite like maggie, so i mainly want to give it a go for her.

ditto netflix. of the two giants, i definitely prefer hbo's output.

Euphoria done. What a show! :disco:
Imagine being a teenager in this age...

four or five episodes in and living for it

it was good, mainly thanks to wever and collette, amazing women.

the politician was a disappointment for me after the strong start. so much so i can't even get excited about the otherwise great set-up for season 2 with midler and light.

i finally caught up with season 2 of barry as well. still excellent but season 1 was perfect so hard to match up.

I’m drowning in tv shows, it’s almost too stressful.

Also caught up with the latest season of Barry (8/10) and Insecure (6/10).

Catherine the Great was a disappointment (7/10). Israeli Our Boys looked promising at first but was a bit too predictable (7.5/10).

Started watching the supposedly new epic HBO drama Watchmen. I don’t really know what to make out of the first episode...

I'll start with this bunch:

09 The OA
10 Dark
07 unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
08 The Real Housewives of Cheshire
06 The Walking Dead
08 Hashoter Hatov
07 The Letdown
07 The Girlfriend Experience
06 Loose Women
08 Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
09 RuPaul's Drag Race (I'll bundle them all into one)

More to come!

Finally got around to watching The Night Manager which was great and currently watching Daybreak on Netflix which is sweet but is trying too hard to be hip and cool.

Is no one else watching Watchmen?

I’ve been bingewatching Silicon Valley and also started on His Dark Material.

I’m enjoying how batshit Watchmen is. Also season 2 of Castle Rock is good so far (but season 1 started good before ending up being meh).

I’ll give HDM a shot but I didn’t like the book when it read it ages ago.

I don’t know anything about the book, soI have only the series to go by. It’s hardly my genre but it looks rather promising.

Yeah I don’t understand why they didn’t clearly market it as a sequel to the book, you can manage without reading the comic or watching the movie but it’s so much better when you know the context.

I am watching Watchmen and think it's excellent viewing. Agent Laurie Blake is :disco: and the Dr Manhattan dildo was a particularly lovely touch

Finished She-Ra season 4 and it has really grown on me. It even gave me the feels in certain places.

Also I love the design of the characters. Scorpia and Double Trouble are queens.

TUCA and BERTIE was cancelled :(

What other show has an intro featuring a tower block with a massive pair of PULSATING BREASTS? :(
