It's great. Surprised it's not getting much hype.

I did LOVE World on Fire last night. I expect that to do well in the ratings. What with the insane looking War of the Worlds coming up, the BBC are on fucking fire right now.
 
The BGT slump continues.

And as much as Peaky Blinders is undoubtedly a hit, I can't help but think the BBC may be a little disappointed that it's pulling in pretty much the same figure on BBC1 this year as it did on BBC2 previously.

I don't think I even realised it changed channels. I guess it's got a steady fan base. If it's not someone's thing, I don't see someone randomly just trying it out. The trailers are pretty clear what's involved.
 
I think it had grown season on season until now though, so surely they were hoping for a boost with a channel change, or why bother?
 
Is ‘Peaky Blinders’ any good? I see it’s got Tom Hardy in it, who I loved in ‘Locke’ and ‘Bronson’ so I could be tempted by him alone

A Confession has also been an amazing watch this far.
 
I thought Peaky Blinders had got a bit of a boost in the overnights at least? It certainly hasn't taken off in a Line of Duty way but it definitely is a rather more niche programme. As much as I enjoy it I think this series was a bit uneven by usual standards, and the opening episode in particular wasn't the greatest which wouldn't have helped with any casual viewers tuning in.

Agree that The Capture has been gripping. Haven't seen World on Fire yet, but it looks like another strong Sunday night drama.
 
I'm weepsome to report it's NOT VERY GOOD AT ALL. Telegraphed plots, bad dialogue and shoehorned-in CURRENT MUST-HAVE DEVICES like an INTERRACIAL GAY RELATIONSHIP

Come on BBC WHY OH WHY OH WHY etc etc

As Mr S tartly observed "Not a patch on JULIETA" (which was on BBC4 the previous night)
 
I've been getting my :david: on and comparing 28 day consolidated figures to the 7 day ones I post in the weekly chart, because I assume shows like Peaky Blinders and other dramas will do better than the soaps and shows like BGT. The figures may not be the same as those I posted in the weekly chart as I am comparing individual shows below rather than the average in the weekly chart.

GBBO 9.621m / 10.027m / +4.2%
BGT 7.135m / 7.461m / +4.6%
Peaky Blinders 5.761m / 7.182m / +24.7%
Coronation Street 6.615m / 6.772m / +2.4%

Emmerdale 5.961m / 6.073m / +1.9%

So much better news for dramas (and Peaky Blinders in particular) than soaps, which relatively are performing even worse than we've commented on before.

I suspect EastEnders may perform slightly better than Corrie or Emmerdale, purely because I'm guessing it has a younger demographic more inclined to watch on catch up. However, the chart I get the figures from for 28 days consolidated viewing only shows the top 15 shows of the week, and with individual episodes of soaps included, EastEnders doesn't make the cut. The fact that a single episode doesn't make the cut even after the longer period makes me think it only can have a very small boost though, anyway.

It is so good and the last 15 minutes did keep me gripped, but I must admit throughout 30 minutes of Tuesdays episode I didn’t have a single clue what was going on. I still don’t know if I do know what’s going on. :confused:

GBBO still doing much better than any show on catch up over 7 days - it had 2.767m not on day of broadcast. The next closest were The Capture and A Confession with 1.985m and 1.935m respectively.

GBBO is repeated on 4Seven, E4 and Channel 4 on Fri, Sat and Sun though, so I'm wondering if those are included in the total. If not, then its figure is even more impressive - surely clearly beating Strictly.

I'm not even sure what type of show it is? Is it a medical drama? Or a gentle comedy? I assume it's got lots of lovely shots of Cornwall in it, but no idea of anything else.

I can't watch it. It's mildly amusing for about 5 minutes and then it irritates me.

The celeb version and the civilian ones seem equally popular.

I always record GBBO and watch it at a later point. I generally don’t watch anything live unless it’s on BBC.

It’s definitely not compulsive viewing. I don’t really see the appeal of watching people watch the tv.
 
Love Gogglebox and glad it's still getting those decent ratings after all this time. I imagine it does quite well on catch up
 
I recorded the Celebrity versions not so long but didn’t get around to watching them.
 
I get the impression that Doc Martin is modern day Heartbeat fare.

The Capture and A Confession both climbing in viewers is good to see.
 
I think one season of BGT a year is MORE than enough for anyone.

Doing well in the extended 28 day catch up period as well.

If you look at the Sept 2 - 8 chart posted last month, The Capture has added a further 2.4m and A Confession 1.1m.

I've noticed looking at the figures that BBC shows generally do better on catch up than ITV ones. It doesn't surprise me that much, considering I find BBC iPlayer much better than the ITV player. Eastenders still consistently lags behind Coronation Street and Emmerdale, though.

I guess no adverts helps the iPlayer compared to the others.
 
BGT was consistent, if nothing else.

Having NOTHING live - for a show that is predominantly based around a week of live shows - was a weird choice. I suppose in terms of logistics a pre-record was the only viable option.

But I thought the final would have been live, at least.
 
The website I get the figures from hasn't been updated today. I'll keep an eye out and update if/when they do.
