I wasn't sure about including the athletics or not, as that is the highest audience of obviously many individual different broadcasts. But I figure people may well have been watching for one specific event (it was the show at 5.45pm on 5th October, if anyone knows), and I always list separate football matches etc, rather than average them.
 
It looks like Strictly is rising week on week. Which makes me happy as the lowish opening MUST have been weather related.
 
I imagine the BBC must be very pleased with that Apprentice figure. As much as it dipped from its high point several years ago, it's been pulling in consistently decent audiences for many years. I think its audience has remained pretty solid for a while now.

I would suggest it was more that it was a Saturday rather than the events themselves. The sprint relay finals were then, which we got medals in, and the women’s 1500/5000 but I can’t see why those would have scored better than the women’s 200 or the sprints, to be honest.

I thought it actually got higher figures than that on one day at least, I read somewhere else, but I still think what was an experiment in putting it on prime time has worked.
 
That's definitely the highest one recorded in the period Sept 30 - Oct 6. The only other one listed is the broadcast at 8pm on 2nd October, which had 3.515m.
 
Nice to see the Athletics making a small dent with a decent figure there.
 
I'm REALLY pleased with The Apprentice - adding about 2 million on catch-up.

I honestly don't think the show would still be on air if it was only recording the 4-ish million that it was before catch-up was factored in.

6.1m isn't so bad for X Factor, is it? I think they probably hoped for better (and it's a million less than BGT opened with, despite viewing figures generally getting higher now), but at least it's better than shitty old EastEnders.
 
I wonder if Eastenders will ever get cancelled. Even if the viewing figures keep going down, it's kinda legacy by now.

Mind you tell that to TOTP.
 
I think that’s a good figure for X Factor. Top 10 for the week certainly doesn’t feel like a bad result for the show.
 
Soaps generally aren't doing what they used to, but getting a quarter less viewers than Corrie and a figure closer to the news isn't a good look for it.

Time for Eldorado to return and breathe new life into the format.

I imagine it's probably the first season to debut with more viewers than its preceding season for a LONG time, even though we're not really comparing like with like. Let's see how it holds up, because BGT had quite the plummet.

I have a feeling X Factor Celebrity might grow, it doesn't seem the DISTASTER initially thought in terms of it being like the 2006 one

Apparently the second episode was down a million in the overnights compared to the first. So we'll have to see how it performs on catch up.

The increase for The Capture is remarkable. Drama does better on catch up anyway, but I assume that is the effect of great word of mouth.

That is interesting. Between the three dramas A Confession was comfortably ahead on the seven day. I agree The Capture definitely had positive buzz and I guess the youthful leads also lent themselves to a strong on demand audience.

A second series must surely be on based on those numbers; it wants to be as the last episode would be quite unsatisfying if that was it.

It'll be interesting to see how the figure consolidates. BBC dramas definitely seem to perform best of all on catch up. I imagine it will end up adding more than a million quite comfortably.

Another uptick for Strictly.

I'm sure it will do better on catch up but it is really something that X Factor managed less overnight viewers than Danny Dyer and his wall.
 
Amazes me how durable "Have I Got News For You" has been but then again, with the current state of things, the show is in its element.

And sure enough the first episode increased from 6.144m to 7.702m after 28 days. It did drop in the 7 day figures after week one though, so we'll have to see if that holds. As it stands though, that first episode outperformed The Capture narrowly.
 
I do wonder how low shows like Casualty can go viewing figures wise before its cancelled. The only similar show I can think of is The Bill, and I am sure that dropped to similar viewing figures when it was axed. Casualty can not be cheap to make.
 
Is it significantly cheaper than EastEnders? The viewing figures aren't so different.
 
The actor who plays Charlie, and the actress who plays Connie are surprisingly amongst the highest paid at the BBC.
 
Charlie should be bloody grateful. He's a very average actor and would struggle outside of that show, I reckon.

Well, unless he's improved in the decade and a half since I watched it.

I doubt he cares. He is will in to his 70’s now and is on a salary of between 350-399k.

When they filmed it here, he seemed to be permanently in Habitat. I'm sure I saw him three times there.
