I'd say it's the one time where things could actually change hugely and parties could go from 4th or 5th place to 1st place. If ever there was a time to vote for the party you actually believe in, this would be it. I mean the Lib Dems proved that under a Proportional Representation system they would be more popular than either the Tories OR the Labour party earlier this year (I mean so did the Brexit party... but ... um...).
 
Pretty sure Hilary Benn is safe as houses where I am, he had a massive majority last time.

My parents are in Ex-Tory and general weirdo Rory Stewart's constituency, but he's leaving for a doomed run at being London Mayor. Probably lost to the Tories as it's a very Brexity area, but I'll put the pressure on depending who Labour and the Lib Dems field.
 
The tactics in Scotland are going to be all SNPSNPSNPSNPSNPSNP and I'm totally over their bullshit. I ditched the Lib Dems after they got into bed with the Tories and, sure enough, Swinson is a Tory in a yellow titfer so they can fuck off. That leaves Labour.
 
Obviously not concerned by these elections but if I were British, Lib Dem or Green would be a no brainer for me. The fact that Labour have failed to form an actual remain front throughout all this debacle is unforgivable.
 
the only way the torys can govern is through a majority or something very close and i think they’ll struggle to gain one: they are likely to lose most if not all their seats in scotland to the snp and are under threat in southern england from the lib dems so to form a majority they really need to win in the midlands and the north of england. the tories are toxic in many seats in the north still (always have been and austerity etc won’t help change that) i imagine many will feel more comfortable voting brexit party than tory.

i’d predict some sort of informal pact between labour / lib dems / snp being the final result

I really want to ask a question regarding one of the above votes, but don't have the energy.
 
SNP are always going to be the safest vote in my area I think, but I really don't think I can vote for them in good conscience until they address their terf trouble... so I will vote Labour, for all the good it'll do.
 
I can't EVEN with this right now. And I'd just invited my parents her for Christmas which was RASH ENOUGH

I suppose that's a protest vote, but yeah, I think SNP are safe as houses. But then Labour have their own troubles to attend to. No party is shining white.

Brexit is going to happen, so SNP is the only outlet we have for actually escaping this nightmare, as small a chance as it is. A huge win for SNP in this election is only going to make them pressure more for a second independence referendum. I suppose it's that difficult question, SNP are so tied into independence that if you don't support independence then why vote for them. If you do, then you HAVE to vote for them.

I sincerely disagree, to be honest. People should be voting for the party who stand the best chance of beating a Tory.

And I say this as a persnickety lefty who can find bad things about all the parties on my side of the debate.

The SNP has a TERF problem, but I also literally have friends who worked for Labour who have left because of the antisemitism. And the Lib Dems under Swinson are basically yellow Tories.

But if you’re in an anything/Tory marginal, now is not the time for protest votes.

Sorry, I'm not sure this is massively relevant to anyone, but I have to put this down somewhere as I am massively worried about Portsmouth South. Surrounded by a massive sea of blue, the strong (and ever increasing) student population is what won the seat for Labour for the first time ever last time around but it was close. Hopefully, not enough will have left for Christmas- term seems to officially finish on 14th December here.

Our MP is really good- local (gay) boy, surprise winner, young, inexperienced, but has really been seen to do loads and works his absolute butt off. Problem is, there's a REALLY strong Tory candidate this time- the leader of the local council for some time who is (inexplicably) popular (she's a HIDEOUS human being), though begrudgingly does actually do quite a lot of work locally. She's an amazingly typical Tory- husband is a merchant banker, they own 7 houses, lives outside of the constituency, but has bought one within the boundaries so she can claim she lives there. Her amazing record includes complaining about lack of housing...whilst owning 7 houses, being really pro-Brexit, when she was leader of the council, writing to the government about Portsmouth being considered an "immigration hub", claiming there were too many immigrants here and, quite spectacularly, when BORIS was on the leadership trail, having the most hideous sycophantic performance, including calling him a "true blue" in reference to Portsmouth's football colours and, most spectacularly, saying he "had a point" after reference was made about Boris' infamous 2007 comments that Portsmouth was ""too full of drugs, obesity, and underachievement".

I have absolutely really no time to commit to doing much of note at the moment, but I'm going to have to find some way of contributing somehow, because FUCK ME, I'm not going down without a fight...

It does make me feel kind of SMUG in a way...but in a way I'd happily give up to be in a wider sea of ROUGE
 
My labour MP had a pretty much record majority for the constituency last time (helped by the green stepping aside and lib dems saying vote for red)

I have a very specific problem. I want to vote for labour. And I will vote for labour.

My problem is my labour mp is the lead for parliamentary pro-life campaign. I want to get rid of her. I've been trying to hatch deseletion plans. In many areas I agree with her, but I'm just angry about that, that I find it hard to muster the energy to like her.
 
Election threads are basically the new Moopyrate. Every year or so, loads of posts, go on forever and once the rows are over most of us are disappointed with the results.

I'm voting Labour. I'm fortunate to be in a seat where I don't have to vote tactically. It'll either be Labour or Lib Dem - hopefully the former.

I don't trust the Lib Dems. They (incl. Swinson) campaigned for years for a referendum to leave the EU, and then became the EU's biggest cheerleaders when there was a niche in the political market. I remember them courting young voters with their banner promise of scrapping tuition fees, and then doing the exact opposite. I don't trust them not to do the same with their current position if they have the opportunity to form a coalition with the Tories again, and as their current MPs include a number of former Labour MPs who left due to clashing with the direction of Labour, and a number of Conservatives who were unhappy to leave the Conservative party over Brexit, I think the likelihood of them forming a left-leaning coalition is pretty much zero...
