I'm not in the River Don catchment (where all the serious flooding has been) but it flows on to rivers and canals that go through my village so everyone has been being wary. We did have warnings to move stuff upstairs on Sunday but luckily nothing came of it. Fishlake is literally down the road from me and I know families & kids that come to my youth group who have lost everything.
We were likening the response to that of Grenfell and how it local people are the first to help: The fire brigade where there from the beginning doing their job (and are still there with the Army). Then within hours, local people had set up collections of everything you could imagine, food, clothes, nappies, cleaning stuff, waders etc. Then a week later the council and government finally got involved.
We've had all parties coming to fill a sandbag for a photo op but Boris got it the worst i think.
