Rupaul’s Drag Race UK (BBC3)

There are certainly some good US comedy queens - I don't think US RPDR can be written off because it's not funny enough. Plus the fashion is stronger.

Oh there are some true enough but I'd say the US version skews FAR more to glamour.

Seeing how the UK version seems to have been viewed in the US, i.e. the funny girls do best, we'll how that influences the US version.

I'm not writing it off at all - I prefer the three Ag mentioned to Baga or The Vivienne. I just think you don't get the same emphasis on comedy as you did in the UK version. The focus feels different, even if Ru favours a comedy queen a lot of the time. And Baga is very different to any US queen.

The next season has already wrapped hasn't it? So presumably the one after.
 
The fact that Jinkx has said she'd return for a US v UK season actually makes me quite wet with excitement.

Hopefully they'll do a couple more UK series so they have a bit of a selection. I do not want to see Vinegar Strokes (ever again).

And Bianca del Rio, even if you dislike her, she's one of the funniest queens ever.
 
Viv was like a US queen with British jokes. Baga was British to the core and then some.

She's not. Alaska is infinity more likeable. She uses humour in creative ways. Maybe that's just not for you :).
 
I don't think Bianca would do a US v UK season anyway. Not when she's capable of filling Wembley Arena on her own.

Our rate didn't say so :) And yes, I can't stand that horseface bitch and don't find her funny at all, but accept some people do.
 
I do wonder if Katya and Trixie but their minds to it they could fill Wembley sized venues.
 
I think Trixie and Katya are more the theatre circuit than arenas. Trixie at least is doing a theatre tour next year, I believe.

Well that's a can of worms. I got into it 9 seasons deep, and started with season 6. Worked for me. Others have different opinions...

Really the start, but I guess season 3 is where it gets good. Season 4-6 are peak. All Stars 2 is an exhibition of drag excellence.

I wouldn't watch any All Stars first unless you don't mind a LOT of spoilers, though.
 
I would start with season 1 (don't be scared how cheap it looks, it's just S1). Otherwise start with season 3 or 4, I would say. That's when it starts to get really good.

I always tell people to start with season 6 and work backwards to 4. Then it's a free for all. Whatever you do, don't start with season 1. Sorry Alla

Also it's VERY IMPORTANT to watch Untucked, some of them are more relevant and interesting than the episode itself.

It's true that every so often they do show a winner of a previous season, but when you haven't seen anything else of previous seasons, it's kind of hard to remember when you come to watching the preceding seasons.

I'd say it's more important to be reeled in with some quality seasons than avoiding spoilers
 
Spoilers aren't the worst thing. There's normally so much content to make up for it in spite of knowing who won.
 
I’d say start with season 5, 6 or 9.

Season 5 followed by season 6 might be the best to start with actually, as it introduces several of RPDR’s biggest characters, and both are AMAZING seasons.

Season 1 and 2 are both actually brilliant, but look quite cheap and have underwhelming drag in comparison to more recent seasons.

Shannel in season 1 was the original Drag Race icon :disco:
 
I did 6, 7, 8, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1. But only because 1 wasn't available then, or else I'd have done that after 8.
 
I’d say start with S6 too if you think you’ll be a quitter. Having said that, if you aren’t quite into it but want to give it another crack I’d say try S9, it feels like the start of the current phase of Drag Race.

1&2 (and debatably 3) are kind of proto Drag Race where they're experimenting with the format. 4-6 are kind of where it hits its stride and finds some great cast combinations. 7-8 aren’t bad but are sort of in the shadow of season 6 (and in subsequent AS, S7 has redeemed its cast). S9-11 are sort of cut from the same stretch fabric and are where RPDR has blown up.

personally AS doesn’t work for me without the context of the participants, part of the appeal is seeing their growth from their original seasons, so hold off a bit. Maybe AS2 after you’ve seen S4, 5 & 7
 
Why not try Thai?

4-6 and All Stars 2 are where the show truly soared (and the very good UK season doesn't come close to these in my opinion), but I would recommend starting with series 1, with 5 being particularly ripe for fan favourites.

As with everything else in life you should start from season 1 and work your way in a chronological order until the current season; how else are you going to understand the history and the evolution of the show, let alone all the self references of the show?

Honestly, my OCD wouldn’t allow anyone jumping back and forth between the seasons.

That would normally be my approach, but if you don't see yourself having time to catch up on 100(?) episodes are you saying it's better not to bother at all?
 
4-6 is a good choice. I hope you get the chance and time to watch Untucked too, some of them are essential, with the queens feeling very attacked and all kind of dramas.
