Just back from visiting my dad in hospital. Whilst there they came round to change his catheter so I went out near the nurses station and one of them came over and asked if I was George's daughter so I said I was. She said was checking the fluid in his bag this morning and he called her a slapper! I started apologising and was about to say he didn't mean anything by it but she was laughing and then she said he also told her she was his bestest girlfriend. I nearly died when she said he started stroking her leg while she was hooking up his drip and then told me he was a lovely old man and not to worry about him. All I could think was that my dad's turned into some kind of sex-pest but she seemed to find it funny, those nurses really do have the patience of saints! When I first got there he was getting really bad pain in his stomach and was shouting and the young nurse who came over

The thing is, the nurses will know that he's not doing it on purpose and will react accordingly.

I've said it a few times but in my journey through the health system 2013-2017 (and ongoing, albeit at lower pitch), the nurses I met were the salt of this earth. OK, there was one grumpy one but in fairness to her, she did have to give me an enema. So I'll forgive her.
