NEW YEAR PLANS

I'm at stupid, cunty work for the next two days. Friends coming down on New Year's Eve, but we're having a quiet one because I'm going to be knackered and mardy.

I only have Wednesday off. I'm no fan if new year, mainly due to Glasgow's inability to do anything other than drink themselves stupid. So I plan to enjoy a quiet day off on Wednesday.

Going to a friend couple’s with their parents (who we like immensely) and doing a murder mystery thing. Annoyingly, they were going to do a lavish meal but have downgraded to “nibbles” now, which kind of defeats the point for me.

Then again, I’m so MEH about NYE in general that I’m entirely nonplussed about it now. I just want to be semi-sensible so the last few days off are spent doing fun things and not in recovery...

I really want to ignore it this year and go to bed early but there's already talk of which FIZZ should go in the fridge

I've never liked it much and just find it INCREASINGLY DEPRESSING

Going to a night billed as new wave/new romantic/post-punk/goth. Pretty standard, some friends are going and it’s a short bus ride home. :disco:

Staying in and eating dinner with a friend (who secretly I’d like to marry, what could go wrong?) and after midnight we will go to a shrine and hope for the best

Just having some friends round ours, nothing too fancy. If the mood takes us we may go to our local for a few drinks at some point. *shrug*

Just drinks at a friends place, should be about 7-8 of us.

I really couldn't be arsed this year, especially as it is on a Tuesday. I work the days in between (as I'd rather not waste leave in this weather and given my family live abroad), so it's more about the day off on Wednesday than the Tuesday night.

I'll no doubt get blind drunk and have a decent time, mind.

Well thanks for asking. Cambridge is now back on the table and I can't wait.

Just four of us (two couples) and a BABY. I intend on much consumption of wine and cheese.

I've worked all the working days over Christmas and New Year for the first time ever and am finding it all a bit of a SLOG.

We're going to a mates in the afternoon for a few hours, let all the kids destroy stuff, then coming home and having a chinese. Can't fucking wait.

To be honest I'm done with the festivities now. Weirdly, I want to get back to work.

Yeah I've not had a wine yet today. We were given loads at christmas, and my folks left the remains of half a case of a decent Saint Emilion too, which I've now guzzled. I'm getting a bit bored of drinking now. I've not fallen out with cheese yet though.

I’ve gotten bored with wine too!

Everything else is still ok, but I need a break. Definitely having a month or so off the sauce again I think.

I'm sure that getting quite drunk the night of the 23rd, then not getting drunk but drinking all day Christmas Eve is what resulted in me getting ill late on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Well, I think I was probably in for it anyway, but i reckon the alcohol lowered my immune system so it hit me harder.

I can see me being fairly dry Jan, I expect I'm going to be very fucking busy with the new business, but I know if I actually set the target of not drinking I wont last a week.

Both me and the other half were finishing work at midday tomorrow(everywhere closes super early in Iceland on NY apart from bars) so the loose plan was to stuff our faces at home, go to a small gathering at a friends house and then probably end up in town for a bit and watch everybody go crazy with fireworks(they´re only available to buy the last week of the year so everyone makes the most of them :D).

Are you Icelandic?

I think last year I was asleep before 12 and this year may be similar which is fine. We will drink but I'm not fussed if we don't make it to midnight. I'm all boozed out too and need a break.

Looking forward way more to a day off and a lovely roast on New Year's Day, where we'll still drink no doubt but that'll be the end for awhile.

It feels like it should be more momentous being the END of A DECADE, but oh well...*old*.

It didn't even occur to me that it was the end of a decade until just before Christmas. I guess the millennium kind of ruined the significance of milestones after. Although I think we only went around to see a couple of friends back then.
