Sunday loves it

I've had some weed for the last few days. And honestly it's been great.

Glad I'm not doing dry January, we drank 6 bottles of wine last night.

I am doing dry January, or at least “dry a while” and I’m already bored of it. This morning I ran (5k- not bad, but hard work after my Christmas break), had a quick dip in the sea (so cold I’m still a bit nippy now) and cleared out the fridge.

Then I went to see my parents and cleaned their kitchen a bit as they’re too old/unwell to manage it and refusing to have a cleaner and frankly it was all a bit grim. Sigh.

I think I just broke the LOUD PEDAL on the PIANO while attempting to play DON'T DILLY DALLY ON THE WAY. I hope the neighbours have been admiring my LOVELY SINGING VOICE :D

I'm playing Bananarama with the volume down a LOT LOWER than I normally would, but TWEEDLEDUM AND TWEEDLEDUMBER downstairs have been kicking off about noise and have even gotten the council involved, the miserable CUNTS, and I can't be doing with the hassle on a Sunday.

I haven't quite decided how I'm going to RUIN THEIR LIVES yet, but don't worry, I WILL.

What have the council said?

Basically we had a bit of a DO the Sunday before Christmas and it went on til about 1am. They phoned the council to complain and we got a "we've got no evidence, so we're not doing anything, but if you are doing anything, shut up or we'll have to investigate" letter. I'm actually ENTIRELY ok with the fact they were pissed off about that (albeit that come and talk to us rather than just going to the council) but they moan about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING all the fucking time, ignoring the fact that they bang doors and shout at each other until the early hours of the morning. I had a knock on the door for genuinely not loud at all music at 9pm on a Thursday last summer (and they even said "It's NINE PM!"). I don't think they understand living in a flat...

NINE PM? Please pass me my finest clutching pearls.

I think the council here won't investigate individual complaints. They ask you to keep a noise diary for a couple of weeks.

I’m guessing they said something similar to our intrepid TWOSOME but they send the letter anyway. They’ve been away pretty much since then, so it’s going to be FUN when I bump into them on the stairs.

We even had a complaint about a Sunday lunch with 6 people and no music on once. I politely told them to go away.

I guess I understand why people are asked to keep a diary, but it just gets obsessive. Every time a door closes, every footstep etc etc. You're living in a flat FFS, not a detached farmhouse.

We did this last summer with the new neighbours. But their music was ridiculously loud, they're next to us but not attached, yet our landing was shaking from the volume.

I've been spending the last sweet days off work in our new COTTAGE in front of the wood burner. going back felt like such a defeat :(

Hi Moopy. I have just got rid of the last of my Christmas visitors, and as much as I have had a great time I am actually now quite happy it’s all over with so I can hit the gym tomorrow, and get back to as normal as it gets in my life.

2020 come at me. :disco:

I hate people who live in flats but think they get to own the whole building. I remember a former associate of mine had a visit from the police after his ever-complaining downstairs neighbour moaned that he was "having some kind of wild party". The fuzz chapped the door and were met by said associate who was in the flat on his own, in his PJs with a freshly brewed green tea and watching an episode of Fawlty Towers...

I am having one last indulgence this evening with a bottle of red, a big packet of roast potato crisps, and a garlic dip watching trash after trash on the television.

It has been a LONG 2 weeks.

I'm angered when I hear of such people. why the ef are you not living in the countryside if the sound of your neighbour living a NORMAL LIFE is such hell to you? thankfully none of that type in my building... and I'm on the board so they could stuff it if there were

there are noisy demons out there though, let it be said. I once lived below a guy who would categorically SLAM DOWN his porcelain toilet seat, it sounded like it could fall through the floor any second

Just on the other side though, when you're exhausted and trying to get the kids to sleep so you can finally sit down for some and quiet, but you can't because of the thumping music and screeching of voices going on, even 9PM can seem too late when it's a repeated basis. I suppose that's what you get for having 10 people living in one house.
Although I'm not talking about flats!
