31m according to wikipedia, based on a Sunday Post article. I'm not sure why they didn't combine the totals though - they did for the Royal Wedding in 1981.
 
And if they aren't routinely combining, I imagine that the Queen's Speech may well be figuring if they were.

Which means that Eastenders was often lower than it initially seemed, right? Not that you can undermine its figures but the adding of the omnibus feels like jumping the queue in terms of official numbers. Corrie didn't have that kind of catch up service available if I recall.

God bless Emmerdale sneaking a few annual top 10s in there.

Yes - by modern standards adding the omnibus doesn't seem unfair, when you consider anyone can watch anything at any time and it all counts. And I'm sure some people just chose to watch the omnibus rather than throughout the week. Obviously it's all valid viewing, but it did give the programme a huge advantage.
 
The staggering ratings avalanche that was Heartbeat 10 years after it started was something else. ITV were certainly quick to bin it.

Yes, I wasn't as surprised as @Rita at how popular Heartbeat was, but I didn't remember it had the longevity it did have.

It was almost before its time but with the added advantage that most other shows weren't doing it in the same way. Or couldn't.

Oh probably but I can't remember when/how. Either way the ITV soaps have managed to be more resilient* than Eastenders in the MODERN AGE

*paper over the cracks more efficiently.
 
As happy as I am that Nas got the most screen time he's had so far on the extra bits episode, I've inevitably got bored watching straight people couple up, so it is high time the guys were made to wear speedos or else just jock straps.

Yeah, the next biggest audience (ITV) isn't in the top 10. It was such a weird, weird day. I was in town for a bit before the service (because some places were closing for it as stuff) and it was the emptiest I'd ever seen the centre of Glasgow on a Saturday morning. The world went mad for about a month.

Of course, we've now been living in a batshit-mental timeline for so long that it all seems like a bit of an over-reaction, really.

Not sure. It was huge. They also did Little Britain Abroad as a special, but I assume it would have appeared as that, if so.

And look at figure for Come Fly With Me in 2010. I imagine that was the first episode and it collapsed after.
