MORNING MOOPY.
So, here's a LONG BUT FUN story for today. I have a medical condition which means that my stomach massively overproduces stomach acid, for which I'm on tablets forever and gives me the odd complication, one of them being acid reflux and that mucus gathers at the back of my throat and blocks it sometimes- including waking up often in the middle of the night gasping for air, which is unpleasant but is normally fine as I eventually get breathing! So, on Monday night, I had a stomach bug overnight, stayed at home and worked from there on Tuesday. Tuesday night, I woke up and couldn't breathe as the stomach bug had kicked off my acid majorly and my throat was full of mucus. Gasping for air, it just wouldn't come. I could manage little breaths, but then that started me hyperventilating and having a panic attack, which means my throat closed over even more. Not the best time to have no husband at home and no one in the entire building of flats living here at the moment. Anyway, eventually calmed down but didn't really sleep that night as I was too scared.
So yesterday, off sick, couldn't swallow without water, phoned the doctor and the usual "gargle with salt water" blah blah blah, drinking mucus cough medicine to no avail. Breathing is really bad due to everything being blocked. Then in the afternoon, my chest starts hurting. Now, I'm far from a hypochondriac, so dismissed it as being part of the shallow breathing situation. Then I start getting a shooting pain in my left arm. "Oh don't be ridiculous" I said to myself. Then my Apple Watch starts saying my heart rate is unusually high considering I'm at rest (I normally only get that warning when I'm on the coke!). So, still thinking it's nonsense, I google mucus and heart disease- apparently it's one of the first signs of congenital heart failure. Still thinking I'm being ridiculous, I ring NHS Direct, who tell me that I should ring an ambulance immediately.
So, really fucking scary, off I go to the hospital in an ambulance, blue light flashing, the works. Absolutely shitting myself. Get there and I'm rushed through and everything is fine and I've basically got a throat virus and they can't give me anything for the throat and I should just go home and spit into a bowl lots. What a complete waste of time. So here I am, in bed, unable to swallow, hardly breathing, spitting into a bowl.
HAPPY THURSDAY MOOPY!
