they should make this punishable by law like Japan has done with the re-selling of masks

Only 8 new cases in China
They should have introduced a per customer limit on hygiene products as soon as this broke.
While I have sympathy with parents who will have childcare issues if schools close, from some comments I'm seeing, I can't help but feel that some parents seem to treat teachers as childminders.

I have a flight at a commercial airport for a four day vacation in a few hours, am I OVERREACTING by not going? (within the US- but still we have it HERE TOO)
Don't tell them that it's only effective if it's at least 60% ethanol. They might take it as a challenge.Overheard in the staff canteen - "let's go the the pub, ye cannae get coronavirus in a pub, alcohol kills it".
Stupidity will kill as many people as the virus itself.
I didn't think it would for me either. But overnight we have gotten a list of places where confirmed cases have gone and unsurprisingly the airport is one of them. My other concern is not being able to fly back as planned because of things escalating these next few days and the cancelation of flights. It's a (less than) $200.00 flight, so I am erring on the side of not going.I don't think it would stop me. Well, unless you're planning on self isolating rather than going about business as usual, perhaps.
Is anyone else struggling with this mentally? I keep thinking about my dad and bursting into tears as my imagination runs wild. I’m trying to stay focused at work but the government’s response yesterday really threw me for how apparent it was that they just don’t care and/or don’t understand. We just had an emergency staff meeting to discuss our options and mostly it was about how we can get the children to keep washing their hands and following good hygiene practice, but it’s just so hard and now we can’t buy antibacterial gel for the school because it’s run out nationwide.
Is there any talk of closing the school or is that dictated by the government?
I’m ok but the general sense of hysteria around me is making me anxious. People looked wild at the supermarket yesterday.
"DON'T PANIC - THERE'S ENOUGH TO GO ROUND. THE SHELVES WILL REMAIN FULL" they said.
I've been into at least half a dozen supermarkets over the last fortnight and NONE of them look like they've restocked in that time. And it not just hygiene products - it's everything. No wonder people are hoarding.
Who would have thought an aggressively capitalist society where economic precariousness is viewed as a positive could have been so fragile?
Oh yeah, everyone with even the tiniest clutch of working brain cells.

This advice on Mental Health Considerations from the World Health Organisation might be useful.

Yes. My parents have already ISOLATED THEMSELVES and my mother is already really DEPRESSED. I dread to think what she'll be like after SIX MONTHS
STILL not being told to work from home, myself and most of my colleagues are FUMING.
I don’t understand what the UK is waiting for, it’s SO IRRESPONSIBLE
get them some lsd.

So I'm (supposed) to be off to London tomorrow. Is being in a confined space for c. 4.5 hours with strangers really a good idea? Probably not. Hoping everyone else is put off from travelling.![]()
ps we're not all hysterical here, right?
i've been drinking and getting high shitless for the last few nights now.
