Yeah I have a bit of that, foggy head and fucking tired.
 
I'm quite coughy today, but it's a bit chesty and phlegmy (soz) rather than dry. So I think I'm going to die of something else, right?

I've had this on and off all winter. Not had a full fucking cold all season. But headaches and fatigue have been trending in my body since December.
 
All of this just shows the tabloids in their worst light. The headlines are so horrible and sensationalist and doing whatever they can to feed into public anxiety and mental health. I know it's expected, but it's sad. It isn't just the usual suspects either.

We've closed our counter at work, and my manager has been asked to come up with two plans - one for a skeleton staff (which is what the university seems to be favouring at the moment), and one for if everything closes entirely. I could be wrong, but I'd be shocked if any of us were still coming in by the end of the week.
 
I work in 2 different places. 1 has installed hand gel dispensers on every available wall, encouraging people to work from home, every surface and handle is cleaned daily with bleach. The other has put in no extra measures or cleaning and has no hot water or heating where food is served.
Guess which one is a school. :eyes:

Only just realised that the "pregnant women must stay at home for 12 weeks" thing applies to Boris' tart, innit. I wonder how keen she will be on him after that :):)

BROKEN BRITAIN
 
So sent all of my office to work remotely today, with just me and one other person in the office and seemingly everything running smoothly. Few small things to iron out this morning and now I'm packing up my desk ready to set up at home- or self isolate if needs be.

Creasing up at the MDs of the other companies in my group suddenly panicking and asking me "how I did it" when I have done nothing but plan for the past fortnight...
 
My parents are driving me mental. After drilling in the rules to them, my aunt has come over between grocery shops and my mother insisted that she sit down and and have a cup of tea, and now they're chatting away downstairs.

I've barricaded myself in my bedroom

Always remember that these are self-seeking organisations that need your attention to survive. They are therefore competing not to give you the most accurate representation of events but for you to notice them. These people are, without exception, bastards.

I seem to be saying "good grief" a lot at the minute - did we not have a smilie for that at one point?
 
I don't think schools know what to do. I'm quite annoyed that some kids have been in contact with someone in their house who has had symptoms and have self isolated. We were only told yesterday but Ron Jr says they've been off for ages.
 
I had such a terrible nights sleep last night that I really do need to ration the attention I give to this issue. Social media is full of it, the news is, and I feel like all I do is read this thread. Going to try and limit all three.
 
Also waiting for a callback to see if I can worm my way out of the 3 month isolation.

it's so nice to switch off for a while and watch something, or listen to some music or get some work done. every other interaction with the world is covidfucking19.

I applaud your company for doing the right thing. But it astounds me that today seems to be D Day - my company are now WFH for the foreseeable future, Mr K's hotel company are having crisis meetings, lots of friends are the same from today. Companies are only now beginning to act when the Government make recommendations when really they should have been doing this sooner.

You can't fault people for taking the governments advice though? Thats kind of the point of the government, to govern.

Why risk it? You'd be better being as safe as possible. Being over cautious might be hell for 3 months but I'd rather that than take the risk. I'm in the same boat.
 
What do we expect to happen today? I have just dropped my daughter off in Stirling for her driving lesson and am going to hang about so I can pick her up later so she can avoid public transport. Currently sitting in a beautiful cafe up by the castle having a soy latte.

Lockdown - Day 1

It's going fine so far. My boss called me and tried to make me come to work (you can go to work if it's justified and if you can't work from home, but you need to fill some paperwork first), to which I said FUCK NO, I have enough stuff to do from home for at least a week. He's been calling me every hour to see what I'm doing :vor:
 
I believe it’s the Chancellor of the Exchequer who is holding the press conference today, so am imagining pubs/clubs/restaurants will be closing and he will announce implementation of the government funding to keep them afloat.
