Morning.

Coronadepression has hit me a bit- couldn’t get out of bed this morning, didn’t go for a run as was my plan, and off to work in a minute to keep the office open having just had a call from my boss talking about laying people off (when currently we’re still as busy but, admittedly, I think that will change).

UGH

Despite treating the weekend like a trip to Ibiza I'm up and at 'em. Years of sitting in my pyjamas working from the sofa are paying off.

What a shitter of a call to take @Sheena

It must be a very difficult decision for employers to make, but if there isn’t the work there for people I’m not sure what other option there is :(

Ms Ron is begging to be furloughed but she's just been asked to come in. Don't get it.

Just had a crack at the Joe Wicks live PE class, it was a decent HIIT workout.

It's all a bit like the war without the war, isn't it?

I like the fact that people are pointing out that we were cunts during the war too, robbing and scamming. The illusion of good old fashion blitz spirit was a load of bullshit.

As long as we don’t go too far down that route, I don’t want colleagues trying to raise my spirits with a chorus of Roll Out The Barrel.

I'd be readying myself to respond with a full rendition of the Cure's "Pornography" album if I thought shit like that was going to go down.

Eating powdered eggs? Fine.
Painting my legs with gravy instead of wearing tights? I do anyway.
Sucking off a GI for a packet of Orbit Sugar Free? If needs be.
Communal singalong? Fuck the fuck off.

Damn right, we all have LIMITS.

(also - :D :D )

God it's so NICE out there I really want to go for a walk before my leg muscles waste away to nothing. But I feel shit and faint and I don't want to collapse and get carted off to hospital.

I turned ITV on to watch the news and was welcomed with the Loose Women singing “Thank You For Being A Friend”. I will not make that mistake again. :zombie:

REST up. Fluids, paracetamol, sleep on repeat. Switch your work off. Your body needs to recover.

Just done a bit of homeschooling with Ronald Jr. His school are sending out full daily lesson plans. In a way, its good, but I'll be buggered if we're being super strict about it.

Thats said, we've just done an hour of Roman gods, which is fun.

God, today has been a fucking nightmare.

After all of that earlier conversation about telling my staff they're not getting pay rises after all, one has phoned me in tears because she's used the pay rise letter I sent last week as basis for her mortgage offer, two staff have been telling me how they're going crazy cooped up, one saying he was thinking of just sodding it and handing his notice in (not entirely sure how this would help in the current climate, but ok), another person from the office who has asthma and lives alone has been telling me she's really miserable and she's petrified of the disease and has been, I quote, "looking around the house to think what I could take if I get it as there is no way I'm going to die with breathing problems, because that would be awful, someone I have on notice to finish on March 31st (because they weren't very good) has begged for me to keep them on and put them in the furlough scheme as they have 4 kids, their wife has just lost her job and he ain't going to find anything in this environment (which I'd LOVE to do to be nice, but surely is FRAUD and so I've had to turn down) and then, to top it all, someone I've worked with for 20 years who runs one of the other companies in our group and has had a cancer operation has just been told he isn't going to recover, they've taken him into hospital and they won't give him even a week to live, it'll be "when he gives up".

This CORONADEPRESSION ain't getting any better, let me tell you.

Oh and the minute I hit send on that post, I picked up my sunglasses off my desk and an arm fell off

FFS!

If I have to say "once I know any more I'll let you know" one more time I'll choke myself.

Have been sitting here for the last forty minutes watching our IT bloke working remotely on my home laptop (not this one). It looks like he doesn't have a scooby when it comes to VPNs. Can't imagine what he thinks about my laptop though and all its weird and wonderful shortcuts. I saw him click on "HSF Interface" from my bookmarks (nosey bastard but it was probably accidental) - it's only the NASA site where I get my ISS and satellite sighting times from but I bet he thought it was something juicy.

THEO RANDALL just emailed me to tell me his restaurant in the INTERCONTINENTAL HOTEL PARK LANE has had to close. WHAT TO DO

Just done a group business zoom call to a load of people I've never met, only realising that this was my profile photo once I had been online for about 20 minutes.

I’ve been fantasying about being made redundant. :D

@Sheena what a fucking horrendous day you’re having. Definitely neck a bottle of wine or two tonight

I decided to walk home from work today, instead of getting the bus. 5.8 miles according to google maps. It included walking the perimeter of one of Bristol's nicest parks, and there were LOADS of people sitting around on the grass together drinking. At least a couple of hundred people I'd say, sitting in various sized groups. Clearly on a pleasant warm(ish) spring evening, the park has taken the place of a pub.

No wonder the council has decided to close all parks from this evening. Although considering you can't actually close most of them (in terms of there not being any fencing or gates) I don't imagine it will make much difference, at least until lockdown is announced.
