To be honest I don't think so. It will be a hit for sure but Physical will go top 5 in the UK today and likely top 3 next week - it's clearly a smash. It's just been overshadowed in the US by Don't Start Now unfortunately.
 
Third play of this album. They're ALL BANGERS. This is up there with my 1st listen of Happy Nation (US Version).
 
I can’t quite get over how good this album is. Break my Heart could have been the lead single but ended up being the fourth song we hear from the album because it’s all THAT GOOD.

This has entirely changed my perception of QUARANTINE.
 
I think Future Nostalgia (the song) might be the worst thing here tbh. It’s a bit KATE NASH.

I’m imagining Love Again as fourth single, with something for the straights/empowered teenage girls as fifth (Boys Will Be Boys or Cool?) followed by Future Nostalgia DELUXE for Christmas and tens of gays online crying that Hallucinate was never a single :disco:
 
If DAME DUA isn't a thing after the Queen's Birthday Honours this year, there's absolutely no justice.

10 Physical - It's lost its shine a bit to me, but the rush is still amazing.
09 Levitating - This sounds really 90s to me.
05 Pretty Please - Mostly kinda empty.
08 Hallucinate - Jamiroquai-inspired from start to finish.
07 Love Again - "So many nights my tears fell harder than rain" is a line that BELONGS in pop music.
04 Good in Bed - This is gross. Sounds like something from Maroon 5.

There's just very little current pop music that's better than this album. Such a solid piece of work.
 
This album is a MASSIVE triumph and I won't hear otherwise.

I dunno why I expected it to be her debut album + steroids instead of a short collection of radio ready BANGERS (at least for the streaming era, let's not forget the first edition had around 17 tracks!). What I'll miss the most are the songs you wouldn't hear on radio or the ones that didn't sound like obvious singles such as Genesis, New Love* or Begging that fit perfect for her whole brand :disco:

Gutted Boys Will Be Boys is not a Paulina Rubio cover.


*It had a video though, but didn't do much.
 
Just getting a listen in via YouTube because the money the label want for FLAC files is fucking ludicrous.

So far, title track is a bit hokey and Levitating is the absolute tits.
 
The intro of Love Again with the strings into THAT sample... ICONIC. That and Levitating (that yeah x5 feels so familiar) are the two big hitters of the new stuff but there is so much goodness here.

I think I had prepared myself for the last two tracks being such horrors that they seem fine/very acceptable, despite not being on the same page as the rest of the album. Fingers crossed they stick with the disco for single four and aren't tempted to go for a message with Boys Will Be Boys, as I wouldn't be there for that.
 
It doesn't sound as if they've actually sampled "Need You Tonight" on "Break My Heart" - maybe they couldn't get permission.
 
This is absolutely going to be the album of the summer - by the time people are actually getting out and about again, it'll be locked into people's minds.

The chorus of "Good In Bed" is annoying. That's the only weakspot apart from the sing-speak of the title track which just doesn't quite work.
 
Love Again is sensational. A work of art. The deep end of her vocal range is everything, she's developing great control. OCC reporting after just one day it's already been certified sultry gem.

So I have listened to half of the album on my 1hr walk at lunch time down the canal - Hallucinate is fucking amazing as is the title track - its almost like what Gaga did or wants to do?! I am getting texts (not a clipboard moment) about Love Again but I haven't got to that part of the album yet.

I can't help but think of Carly Rae when I listen to this album. I think Carly has more bounce, especially her voice. But this album is still better somehow.
 
single and album both had a huge first day on Spotify yesterday - Don't Start Now and Physical also both had easily their biggest daily streams ever

I can't get enough of Levitating. It isn't as urgent as Physical but it has a pop rush of its own.

I'll just say that Cool has been elevated to an 8 (it weirdly reminds me of Style in terms of being a mild sonic outlier among the other stuff around it, and not being quite as great but still kind of hitting the spot) and Pretty Please is now a 9. I can't believe she made a spliced up vocal breakdown work again in 2020! HER MIND
