I love the banshee. I grew up terrified of my granny's stories about her sitting on the window sill wailing and combing her hair, but really she seems like a family member who is letting you know that you're going to have to prepare for a death. And she's crying for them too.

It's the idea of driving through an empty road in the desert at night and seeing a human animal hybrid sprinting alongside your car and grinning it at you with human eyes. Love it.

There was some drone footage a while back which claimed to catch a black eyed kid in Cannock Chase near me. Anything more than a passing glance shows that it's quite clearly just a person walking, but people went mad for it.

They're supposed to be weird psychic children. People have claimed that they've turned up on their doorsteps and tried to get into their houses. I think they were probably just unusually aggressive girl guides, but I do enjoy reading the stories anyway.

Japan has a lot of weird shit in it's urban folklore. I really like the Kuchisake-onna, it's the sort of story that's begging to have a decent horror film made about it. Sadly, the only one I know of is a load of wank.

you don't say! I have an old book from 1880's Japan cataloguing folklore monsters (yōkai) and people must have had some super fermented tofu back then to conjure up visions of some of those
