S12 E06: Snatch Game

Gigi is something else. I think she's easily becoming one of my Top 5 ever. So talented and yet still so understated.

I'd love to see Aiden come back to All Stars after he's LOOSENED UP a bit. He's so incredibly stiff and humorless.
 
I was hoping one of the lucky contestants getting Ru's master class 1 on 1 would have started responding with "I have an ointment for that", "excuse your mouth", or the ever reliable "that's funny, tell another one" just to volley him to the ground.

Brita's stroke face was doing a not bad Jennifer Coolidge, not that she'd have any clue on how to keep it up.

Gigi has overlapped them now.

Crystal was adorable and she looked mega cute getting ready for runway. I see she has the fabric in silver too. I wasn't sure we were going to get it, and yet there it was, the reveal.
 
does gigi as a boy remind us of someone on moopy? can't place who but that face always makes me think of this place.

I actually didn't rate Sherry Pie at all in Snatch Game (repeated jokes, her voice could have gone another octave deeper for Katharine). Gigi was far and away the best and Jackie was second place for me, even though I've never seen the person she did.

How did Heidi get Lesley so wrong? SHE SAW HER A FEW DAYS AGO IN FILMING... !?!?!?

Brita vs Aiden was great to finally see. It annoys me that Brita will now feel vindicated for knocking Aiden out as she is truly a hateful bitch, but it was the right decision by a mile to be fair.

Heidi as Phaedra would have actually been a great shout :D - Phaedra is an incredibly shady Southern woman, with a distinct voice not too dissimilar to Heidi’s actual voice. She could have literally played herself, called it Phaedra and probably have done a lot better.

I wasn’t into Sherry Pie. Playing a senile old person is Snatch Game 101 these days, and her main joke seemed to be that she had parkinsons?
 
I wonder if Sherry won a mini challenge and they didn't show it as it just dived straight into Snatch, which I actually kind of liked. When is the reading?
 
Also: I simply do not see the point in Jackie Cox when Bianca Del Rio already exists. She really comes across as an EXTREMELY watered down version to me.

Are they similar? She feels closer to Jinkx than Bianca as far as winners go and she's not even like Jinkx either.

She's like a funnier Cracker with less polished lookz.

I was so thrilled when I heard that one of the little bitches on RuPaul's Drag Race was going to impersonate my bestie Patricia Stephens. I was excited because he wasn't portraying "Magenta" - but her as a person and thats what made it exciting because he had a massive opportunity to share the Magic of Patricia to a big audience. Well boy was I wrong. The impression was completely insulting. Infact it was so bad & unflattering it got him eliminated from the competition. He made her out to be the complete antithesis of who she is and what she represents - and even failed to capture the most basic of things about her such as her notable voice. To quote an article I read earlier "Aiden’s bizarre, lifeless portrayal of British actress Patricia Quinn (Magenta in the original Rocky Horror Picture Show movie) was easily the worst of the bunch. Honestly, it might have been the worst Snatch Game performance I’ve ever seen. Not only did Aiden fail to make a single Rocky Horror reference, but she didn’t even bother doing Patricia’s accent! Ironically, Aiden’s whole reason for choosing Patricia was that they’ve met, making it all the more insane that she would fail to capture even the most basic of her mannerisms. Yeah.. it was so basic and actually quite insulting.

Which makes Gigi's all the better. It was so original AND Ru even tried to convince her it was a bad idea. I wish Ru would stop doing that. She was completely wrong about Gigi and then had the audacity to say the reason that everyone else did badly was because they didn't listen to her advice... which would have DESTROYED Gigi if she'd gone with her advice probably.
 
Oh Aiden, what a fuck up on many levels. I've felt bad for him and willed him to do well but it's just not there. He couldn't even be bothered in the lip sync.

Still astounds me to this day that snatch game, the one thing you can prepare ideas for way in advance as is constantly mentioned, ends up with only one or two highlights every fucking year. Like what was that Tina Turner shit? It was like it was hastily cobbled together two minutes previous. Widow has been one of the stronger ones and then we get that? :manson: There wasn't even a solid look to it. Brita and Crystal were kind of awful too, Heidi missed the mark and Jan didn't really register.

Gigi is running away with it now and thank christ someone is given how strong Sherry has been. Jackie was great too but I do feel we've seen the best of her now. Gigi promises so much more.

Brita needs to go but wouldn't surprise me if she stays longer while we have Crystal left.
 
If I'm being completely honest, somewhat misguided snatch game aside although at least she turned up, I still think Sherry Pie is the strongest overall which is just...sad and unfortunate. However Gigi is giving everything to this and a touch more likable, so...

I keep waiting for a Jaida moment to happen and maybe it still will. Heidi I find endearing and wish I could rank higher but lord, she's a seesaw quality wise. I do worry that Jan will sneak into the top 4 by default.
 
But yes, not a single Rocky Horror reference really was unforgivable. Looking back, it really was up there with the all time nadirs of the game.

1. Gigi - I was screaming at the robot, a weird idea but she nailed it. I can finally feel the momentum. Didn’t think much of the ice cream runway though.
2. Jackie - love her still, and a close second via her wonderful runway. If anyone is being slept on...
3. Jan - I’m not a stan but I am a fan. It’s a shame she’s always safe but I’m not disagreeing right now
4. Jaida - I don’t really go for the pageant queens but she’s a cut above, like Trinity and Akeria. This week was just ok.
5. Heidi - love her, cant wait for her all stars!
6. Crystal - love her too, but it didn’t pay off this time. Hope she has a few more weeks at least.
7. Sherry - I wish we had seen her runway. I suppose it’s telling how much production can change your mind, I don’t really have any feelings about her
8. Widow - a bit better attitude this week, I hate her two talking heads faces: dead eyed sulk and smug sneery squint
9. Brita - haaaate her now, she won the lip sync but surely circling the drain. I’m sure they’re making sure to keep every time she brags about New York, but she’s still saying it! I gagged at her saying she is their queen!
10. Aiden - what a disaster! I don’t hate him but this wasn’t really the opportunity for him. He didn’t really try to push out of his oeuvre in the way Crystal has. What a shitty park and bark lip sync too!
 
Omg Rupaul better address Patricia's post in the reunion or there'll be a riot :D
