S12 E07: Madonna The Unauthorized Rusical

Jaida was the standout of the Rusical for me. Nailed the Justify My Love-esque vocal, looked incredible, and even managed to shoehorn in a bit of comedy at the end.

I really hope the next few challenges are personality based, because I'm not ready to say goodbye to Heidi yet.
 
Must say this season has been living up to expectations. Best for a few years.

Jaida definitely came back in this episode after slipping under the radar for the last couple. And Crystal is starting to shine too (but her red Michelle wig could have been a bit more coiffed)
 
This was a fantastic episode. Probably the best Rusical I've ever seen.

Brita was awful and unlikable right up to her last second. I don't wanna see her ever again.
 
Jaida clearly thinks it's still 1991 and she's managed to sneak in the club a whole week before her 21st.

I thought her Justify My Love was good because of the lyrics, but she herself didn't actually inject anymore than Heidi or Jackie did. This is why I think they should be writing their own bits - see Shangela knocking Mariah out the park vs Thorgy not having the sense to do anything with the written Stevie peice she was given. I'd like a more even playing field.

Unless they did write their own?
 
Phew! That was quite fun, the backroom rompery is a bit tired at this point though. If they're going to be fighting, at least read each other, instead of this "I'm sorry" "No we ain't no best friends" and sulking as a talking head. YAWN

I agree that the Rusicals are pretty weighted based on some roles just being better. But yes, how did they get the costumes if they weren't provided? I guess that's why they didn't critique the costumes, just how they 'embodied' Madonna. Conveniently vague, but I don't think that was particularly abused this time.

Overall Ru-nk:
1) Gigi - Still killing it, and her skinny Ursula look for the Rusical was pleasingly manic. Really likeable too.
2) Jackie - I like her still, she's bringing the runways, and her perf was just OK. 3rd last this week for sure, but not bottom 2
3) Jan - Poor Jan! I hope she gets her moment. Her early Madge was as good as Gigi, and her runway was a bit deeper than blue toilet roll and nails
4) Crystal - Such a sweetheart, and I loved her manic RoL Madge
5) Jaida - Liked her JML, she is really sexy anyway. Totally forgot her runway, oops.
6) Sherry - Mugging away at Evita was a nice safe non-dancing role for her.
7) Heidi - The cracks are showing now, I hope she's not just going to Vanjie her way to top 5 just for talking heads (which ARE great). Not a great week
8) Widow - Yuk, what a shitty bitch she's been week after week. She must be so insecure, she can't let anyone succeed, she celebrates anyone's mis-steps. I don't understand why someone would go SO hard villain just for screen-time. I mean it's worked, but it's not a great long-term plan surely? And gloating at everyone when it was a dance challenge, and IMMEDIATELY complaining that she can't dance because of her injury? Bitch please. Waiting for Heidi to dance her off the stage next week.

Brita - Some semblance of a ru-demption this week (though not above saying, incredibly, that Jan rates herself too highly!!). She wants to stay to represent NYC, aren't there like 3 more queens still in from NYC? Well, at least New York has its queen back :eyes:
 
Btw am I going crazy, or did the AOC talking to Jackie moment say “I’m glad you are in this country” in last week’s preview, but turned out to be “I’m glad your mother is in this country”???

I agree with all of this. I do think Jan was the rightful winner this week - but as it provided the best moment of the season not giving it to her, it's more than made up for it. :D

Poor Jan. That was the MOMENT of the season so far, though! And she seems to be taking it all in her stride now, she's even made THAT photo her Twitter profile pic! I actually think that losing that challenge will probably be good for her career wise, people love an underdog.

Nice to see Rock M Sakura getting those numbers. She was kinda robbed a bit.
 
I just have found that the font for the letters of the disclaimer at the beginning of every episode is "Adobe Fan Heiti Std", and it took me a while to realise it didn't say Fan Heidi :D :square:
