A yodel in the canyon of Saturday

In the olden days, when spawn was little and Mr F and I were both working, I used to have all the meals mapped out but I haven't done that for about fifteen years now and I just can't get into the habit again. Before lockdown I used to pop to Mozzers on the way to work most days and would buy what I fancied for tea that night.

Yep, that's me. I've got a store cupboard of tins and packets and the like, but rarely do I have planned what I'm going to eat more than 24 hours in advance. Mr L tends to do a bigger shop once a week or fortnight when he will pick up tins, freezer stuff and the like, but for the main ingredients or fresh stuff, I'll go in several times a week, according to how I'm feeling on an afternoon when I start thinking about dinner.

Even now I'm going in three times a week, although I'd probably get it down to two if it wasn't for shopping for mum as well.

I fucking hate meal planning. I don't know what I want tonight never mind Thursday,

I think right now especially we're really trying to avoid going out unnecessarily, which is why it's a 2 week plan. Normally though I do a weekly shop because my life doesn't allow anything more than that! Even then it's usually click and collect.

I’m having a CURRY tonight and it’s just about the most interesting thing that’s happened all week :disco:

Taught 10 online lessons today, mostly without issue except one 7 year old who had the wrong book and I just cobbled some shit together whoops.

finished at 8pm, eyes practically falling out from looking at the screen

Made spaghetti with packet sauce and cut up hot dogs like some SAVAGE, and I’m three vodka & cokes deep. I watched First Wives’ Club for the first time, cried twice and I’M STILL HERE!!!!

I am so hungover. I don’t ever remember staying in bed this late but here I am. Clearly CANCER RELATED.

Ugh. My father just WOKE ME UP to tell me I wasn"t in a zoom meeting with him I didn't even know about. Mr S has found a switch lite game that plays retrowave music endlessly and tinnily and is sittng there in his STUPID KAGOULE because 'it's a cold day' even though I've left the heating on and turned the thermostat up to 30 DEGREES.

I just read the shit that went down in the Song For Moopy thread.

Can't believe I've spent about 90% of my time here for the last 24 hours and I completely missed it :D

10 years ago to the day my flights were cancelled thanks to some volcano or other. Yay history repeating.

10 years ago I was suffering a hideous hangover from my 30th birthday party. Thanks Facebook Memories.

Right, time to cook my own birthday dinner

Grumble grumble

actually, he's already ruined it by forgetting to buy parsley.

oh and he's bought spaghetti instead of linguine

WHY THE FUCK DO I EVEN BOTHER

oh and he's bought spaghetti instead of linguine

WHY THE FUCK DO I EVEN BOTHER

it's times like this where you just sob quietly and defeated over the chopping board while the bellend shouts from the other room if they got everything right

I made a ragu with tinned sardines and it was lovely. I’ll fax you some lolly

I had tinned sardines last week to use up a tin I had had in the cupboard for about 3 years as I had them in a hamper. I can’t believe in this day and age they still leave the horrible spine in!

I mean a tin of pilchards you have to get your crunch on

Pilchards in tomato sauce on toast- I can’t think I’ve had that since I was a kid!

Happy Birthday @lolly. Hopefully Mr L has spoilt you rotten, and you are getting embroiled in some nonsense in a Moopy Eurovision rewatch.x
