how has it been 4 years already???

anyhow. rehoboam knows i've been out of like with her for a while now, but this remains quite the epic despite that rubbish 90s calendar video with a colourful tint.

that chorus is quite something and it all just goes off.

UTTERLY UTTERLY SUBLIME. A masterclass in pop music production.

Also perhaps her last listenable single. I just can’t get on board with any of that breathy mumbling over a shitty beat that she releases nowadays.

I also remembered it being a much bigger hit - #13 in US/#14 in the UK for a second single.

Also, watching the video I did not know ANTM alum Don Benjamin appeared in it.

it got a bit lost when they released side by side i think.

I also remembered it being a much bigger hit - #13 in US/#14 in the UK for a second single.

It feels like it was bigger because it took FOREVER for it to climb in the charts, and just when I thought it was finally going to be Top 10 the outcome was disappointing.
Also I remember she didn't promote this one bit, silly girl. I've always had the theory she was against this and pushed for Dangerous Woman (which was fab) but she expected that song to be bigger and her team opted for a second single because Max Martin's always a guarantee for a hit and IIRC he produces a song as long as it gets released a a single eventually (??) Maybe she's always been tone deaf cause Greedy being released after this would have been amazing but alas it would have turned her into a bit NICHE.

Side by Side is no better either but it featured Minaj and got promoted a bit more hence why it went #1

9. Lost its sheen slightly but still a full on banger.

It didn’t peak high but it hung around for months and I think is very high up there in her best ‘sellers’ lists?

This might be the best thing she's done for me. Not my favourite single since that's probably Break Free because I'm such a basic bitch, but quality wise that's her best effort.

An untouchable peak. A pity we weren't showered with other songs just as dazzling, but her bigger priority is surely trying to put a stop to that brother of hers.

It’s a fine modern day pop song. Not her best though.

It's a strong 9. I really love it but would sooner hit up Dangerous Woman or Side to Side.

It’s a solid, good track but not deserving of the gay gushing it receives and she has better tracks, but I do like it a lot!

The peak of her output, and probably one of the best gay songs of the second half of the last decade (alongside Cut To The Feeling). The definitive "live" reading is obviously the Valentina lip-synch.

I don't think it's been as precipitous a decline as other suggest (she was always patchy, but was starting to be more consistently great). I have faith that the Gaga duet with return her to euphoric gay pop.

Obviously it's a JOY! But I kind of wish it was somebody else singing it. She's obviously always HATED it, and I wouldn't be surprised if she completely disowned it these days.

Imagine prime-era XTina giving us THAT final chorus :disco:

The video was far too restrained too. The last minute deserved explosions, looks and choreography. Instead we got denim hotpants, bad lighting and somebody from ANTM!

01 into you
02 no tears left to cry
03 love me harder
04 just a little bit of your heart
05 touch it
(like but could live without)
06 dance to this
07 side to side
08 break free
09 everyday
10 greedy

Dangerous Woman is such an underrated big-girl pop album too. With a different singles run it could have been TRULY ENGRAINED as an all-time gay classic:

Into You (with PROPER EXPLOSION OF VIDEO)
Side To Side (the HIT!)
Be Alright (Hazy Summer jam :disco: )
Greedy (The Christmas party mega-hit your Mum likes and Ariana is forever ashamed of recording :disco: )
Dangerous Woman (The US ballad single that gets plopped out in Europe too to little acclaim)
Touch It (Europe-only single that the fans massively hype, yet SOMEHOW fails to chart higher than 64 :disco: )

:disco:

omg this!

also, while she might hate it, she sells it. there's a restraint to her on this which i appreciate. xtina would completely slaughtilera it.

This thread has sent me into a TAILSPIN of Ariana's good/gay moments which fit QUITE WELL with today's sunshine :disco:

No Tears Left To Cry really was an amazing, unique response/comeback. Nothing else really sounds like it STILL, and that video was inspired :disco:
I also love that Breathin' was written by one of The Cardigans :D/:disco: Clearly ANOTHER of her back-cat she now HATES!

My top 10

01 Love Me Harder (The UK's mass-indifference to this track is a HATE CRIME!)
02 No Tears Left To Cry
03 Into You
04 Touch It
05 Be Alright
06 Breathin'
07 Know Better/Forever Boy
08 thank u, next
09 One Last Time
10 Break Free (a bit TOO TRASHY for me!)

i totally forgot about break free despite someone just mentioning it. trashy but deserving of a bottom top 10 placing.

01 5 rings
02 focus
03 break up with your girlfriend
04 thank u next
05 problem

sorry not sorry, but i despise memes being passed off as songs.

there was a time shamefully not at all long ago when i would go get hammered in a really small and seedy gay bar (frequented mostly by roma people) where my love for no tears left to cry really blossomed.

we hounded the bartender slash dj so extensively that after flat out refusing to playing it for a while (lest he had to interrupt his shitty chalga playlist) at one point he would just start playing it as soon as we got there.

oh how i would twirl and twirl :(

I think I can throw a top 10 together for Ari "get my good side" queen of hearts (ilysm <3 *cloud emoji*)

05 Into You
06 Greedy
07 Ghostin'
08 NASA
09 Fake Smile

Dangerous Woman truly is one of the best debut albums ever :disco:

there's probably something fairly disconcerting about a grown man enjoying pop music quite as much.

i keep telling my friends i'm the gayest man they know and they still refuse to believe it just because i'm not very delicate or precious.

No Tears Left To Cry
Ghostin
Better Off
Into You
Side To Side
Bloodline
Successful
Goodnight n Go
Greedy
Fake Smile
