8th: Rambo Amadeus - Euro Neuro (30pts)

Essentially Loreen's Statements as performed by a fat Balkan, this politically charged curiosity made for a rather pointed comeback effort for Montenegro, following a two-year hiatus from the Contest.

A self-described "musician, poet, and media manipulator", although I find 'tosser' is usually an easy shorthand in these situations, Rambo has enjoyed a long and decorated career in his home country, scoring such Golden hits as 'Cataclysm of communism' and 'I want to fuck Mila Jovovich', none of which, you may be surprised to learn, travelled much beyond the playlists of Radio Podgorica.

As he slurs himself, this is clearly not a song intended to win Eurovision, more to ignite a bit of local interest and grab a few headlines. It was certainly a... bold opener for the first Semi Final, and almost certainly expedited if not outright inspired the decision to switch to a producer-generated running order the following year.

As an aside, I would count the first time I watched a video featuring a heavily accented Spaniard growling 'Eets my meesion to fark Voice of Reason' among the five most chilling experiences of my life.

You can kind of understand why it's taken VoR so long to summon the courage to actually review this shite, can't you? Mind you, when we started this ranking, Montenegro was still in Yugoslavia.
