I did actually say to Chlammy that I wasn't sure which ones upset him, unless I'd miss some deleted ones, but it's more the general ISSUE of tags for me rather than specific ones.
 
Also another point to make is that even if you think he did take too much issue with the tags is irrelevant- they genuinely upset Chlammy who is someone who, from what I can see, over the past few weeks was trying to do something to create new posts/ help foster a spirit of community in these shitty times.

Do we really want to "lose" (hopefully very temporarily) users like that!?

Well, things have definitely changed since I was involved then.

I don't think you can have a lenient attitude about this sort of thing (those tags do single people out, that's the point) and be particularly disappointed or surprised when posters with a weaker appetite for online warfare decide to leave.

This - going for Chlammy is like shooting fish in a barrel. He's a very gentle soul and he should be allowed to post whatever Pokemon topic he wants.
 
Stupid tags about people are absolutely fine in my book - there was one about me wanking over Lockerbie yesterday that was both hilarious and accurate - but the snidey ones having a direct pop at someone in the thread without mentioning them by name do make me very uncomfortable. The tags should be there to entertain, not attack.

Also, while we’re on this, some of the tags about KC can be flat out VILE. I’ve no interest who makes them and I’m not saying we should all be holding hands and singing Kumbaya, but as far as I’m concerned it’s not KC who comes out of them looking bad.

This does pop up from time to time and gets brushed under the carpet until it happens again. We had sexist tags against the female members of Moopy, and then someone was cruel to Sheena, and dUb regarding their appearance which to me personally is way below the belt. I have a very hard skin so things tend to annoy me rather than upset me, but I understand for some how it may genuinely upset them.

Yeah, that's the point. There is a wild difference between "Sheena scat queen" and "Sheena is a disgusting fat pig", which are basically both things I've had.

Indeed. Nothing ever seems to happen but it keeps coming back and I will continue being vocal until things change. I'm not against tags at all- as long as they're public and people are held to account for them. Being anonymous means people can say what they want without ANY recourse and that's just not fair, particularly on the recipient.
 
The whole idea of just letting admin view who writes tags was rather ludicrous. Renew the plug in, and don’t make tags anonymous. Everyone can see who writes tags and the spineless won’t hide behind them.

I don’t see what purpose it would serve to single someone out and go for them directly. We’re a forum of adults, we should know when a line is being crossed.

This is the first time tags have been raised during my tenure as a mod, but as far as I know action was taken the last time tags were used to personally target people.

They were used to target me last week and I mentioned it and fuck all was done, granted that it wasn't serious and I didn't push it. It happens time and again- not just the times that are red-flagged to the mod team.

We shouldn't need to police tags. The tags I'm here for are "priti patel bathes in sherbet" and so on. We have a few historical ones that recur: I know @VoR has said that the "vor bums a goat" tag didn't bother him because it was patently ridiculous and was not a genuine accusation of bestiality.

There is, essentially, one rule of Moopy - "don't be a dick". That's the Ts&Cs right there.

Oh and @Chlammy - come 'ome love.

Did I miss something? There was a post where you said you were loving the tags with a :D - did they go off-beam after that?

The only option we have is to pay for the add-on again. I don't know how much it costs, Indie might know.

Most of them were brilliant! There were a couple of cunty ones and I said so in the thread...

(Nothing bothered me AT ALL, by the way- I point to my earlier comment about how different people will react in different ways)

So whats the solution, get rid of them? Have a thread where people can request a deletion.

I think that's overkill, generally speaking when they do cross the line they get addressed. I'm assuming the paid plugin to reveal the author has lapsed because it hasn't really been needed.

End of the day we're all adults here, even Soldi. If a tag bothers someone they can always raise it with the mods.

Can we just disable tags? Or at least put it to a poll on whether we should have them? They raise a chuckle now and again but I tend to overlook them, and they are definitely not worth the expense of members
 
This is Moopy’s very own NRA question. I’d imagine though that the actual problem is with individual posters themselves rather then the concept of tags
 
Especially active posters, who like @Sheena says, were trying to do something a bit different and create a bit of community spirit

The only way to really address in the way that is being requested is to cough up for the add-on again.
Which means a bit of background work in terms of finding out how much it costs, if we have the funds and then contacting them to get it done.
 
I generally pay zero attention to the tags. But with respect to the TAGS about me, the anti semite one made me think that some people haven't learnt a THING since the one Ag wrote about me (and that the forum is FULL of closet white supremacists.) And the one that has since gone about me lecturing people or whatever - YES, I know more stuff than you - WHAT ABOUT IT? :disco:
 
That said, people need to leave little gentle Chlammy alone. If she wants to dress up as a leprechaun or the pied piper or whatever it is that she does, and make topics, let her do what she wants!

The paid plugin- does that mean EVERYONE can see them? Because asking for reveals all the time is just annoying.

I would say get rid of them. But I understand they bring some comedy for a lot of people.

Is that really that hard considering we've gone through it before!? It's hardly going to be a MASSIVE cost difference, is it?

It's not expensive (maybe £20?) and doesn't require any work from their side, it's me that needs to do the work.
